Yeah, I'd like to know how the cup works too, because every time someone describes it to me, I barf in my hands. which, if I used the cup, as far as I can tell, would be covered in menstrual blood.

Yeah, they are. My friend who lives in Oxford uses it. She's all about it. I think it's sort of like a tampon except a rubber cup thing and you pull it out and clean it off. And that's where you lose me.

www.divacup.com.

it's just a silicone cup that you put up in your cunt. it catches the blood and you remove it and wash it out twice a day. i also boil mine before each period. there are little holes in the top so that you can release the suction without your uterus and every thing getting sucked out with the cup.

it's very clean, it never leaks, it's much healthier for your cunt and the environment.

i've never known someone to buy it and then hate it. i love the fact that i never have to buy tampons/pads ever again. ((granted i don't get my period anymore, but you know...))

hahaha no, i've always been a little scared of it. i'm a headcase about my weight so i'd freak out if i gained (even more so if i the BC was making me moody and sad!).

i'm the kind of person who is on no medications whatsoever... i don't even have a doctor, i just go to the NYU student health center and see whoever if i have a problem (not that that's good).

don't worry though, i just don't have sex.

when i want to be, i'll suck it up.
[/quote]

That's exactly how I am!

I never really get sick either [[knock on wood]] -- at least not sick enough to warrant a doctor's visit.

I don't think I've been to the doctor [[besides the gyno]] for being sick more than five times in the last five years.

I was on the pill for awhile, but I'm horrible at remembering to take it!

You can get this one at Target:

http://www.softcupca.com/store/index.php

Contrary to what the insert says, you can wash and reuse the cup over and over. This particular cup is also used as birth control in much of Eastern Europe, for whatever that's worth.

It took some time to get good at using the cup without making a mess but now I'm a pro. I haven't used tampons in years! I can't understand why the cup hasn't caught on.

fortunately TSS isn't associated with the cup since it isn't absorbent like tampons.

i'm not a fan of the instead cup at all. i bought them because you can have sex with them, but i do not believe they should be used a birth control. unless you want to end up preggers that is...

i don't like the instead because it's messy and never stays put for me...i always end up with it leaking and getting everywhere. i like my diva cup because it's sturdy ( not soft and flimsy) and doesn't spill or make a mess at all.

this has some good info also, and pros and cons.

Re: Birth Control - Females only (unless males have anything worthwhile to add)

I was on the depo shot for about 2 years. I was one of the lucky ones who had no problems with it- I had no weight gain, and other than some light spotting within the first 6 months, my periods almost stopped completely. It was amazing, and I loved it. But I read about some of the horrible side effects and heard horror stories from others who were on it, and that was when I stopped.

I went off bc for about a year, then I started on the pill. I have been on Seasonale for about 3 years now. I have had minimal problems from it. I have had some weight gain (15 lbs) within the past year, but I don't know if I can attribute that to the birth control or not. I figured I would have gained the weight soon after I started it. Could just be my metabolism finally catching up with me (god no!!!!). I LOVE the fact that I only have my period every 3 months. BUT: within the first year of being on Seasonale, I had to wean my body to having a period every three months. I would start spotting around the end of the second month, and end up having a 2-3 week period. After talking to my doctor about this, she recommended I continue on the Seasonale, but take it for 3 weeks, then stop for a week, like traditional bc. Then the follwing month, take it for 6 weeks, then stop for a week. That worked great and now I can take the whole pack with no spotting or period.

When I first started on the pill, I set my phone alarm to remind me every day to take it. Now I just leave my bc on my nightstand, and I remember to take it every day as soon as I get out of bed.

I am very interested learing about the ring. Thinking about putting a ring up there kind of freaks me out though. I would be afraid it would fall out during sex. Just seems a little awkward to me!

And this cup? I have never heard of it!!! It sounds fabulous, though! I hate tampons. . .

Ugh, I was on Seasonale and I have nothing but scathing criticism of it. I gained 25 pounds, I had zero sex drive, my period when I did have it was about a month long and it was a fucking flood. The final straw came when I was talking to some chick about my adorable free sample seasonale bag and she was like 'that's the shit I was on when I got knocked up with my baby!" That was it.

I'm pretty interested in it too.

I know a few people IRL who have one and they really rate it.

Question to those who use the ring birth control thingy:

I'm trying to figure this out. I understand how it goes in and stays in and stuff. . . someone mentioned that hers fell out during sex before. Can it get pushed in during sex? It seems to me that if you put something up there, then have sex, it's just going to get pushed further up (sorry to gross anyone out). And can you feel it?

Want to get some personal opinions :)
