nclexusgirl- from that settlement paper, it sounds like the hospital settled with bio mom. Bio mom then sold her annuity to one of those annuity companies (AKA Deborah Miller) It looks like she only sold a portion of hers tho.
My BIL did the same thing years ago. He totally got robbed. He was so desperate for his money and after waiting a long time for the settlement- he was so mad when they put it all in an annuity. After that, he went to one of those companies and basically sold it all for pennies on the dollar so he could get a lump sum.

    hmmm
If Kamiyah wasn't found by July 2016- mom would receive the full lump sum of 300,000+ BUT if Kamiyah was found- Kamiyah would receive it.
BTW- the tips started coming in Aug.

Yeah, I'm calling BS on this whole story.
What first made me think something stunk in this story was the teen girl's facebook page. I noticed she was friends with her bio dad's kids (last name Aikens) I was clicking on those kid's sites and I read where one girl was making comments about the story that led me to believe the public was being played.

    ?

I'm not saying that the kidnapping isn't true. I just think there is some missing pieces to this story.

Can someone break it down to what they think happened?

The bio parents knew where she was and with who? Money involved?

Well, there are a couple of theories floating around. The main one seems to be that the bio mom knew the kidnapper woman from the beginning. That's why she drove 4 hours and picked that specific hospital and that specific baby. The bio mom gave/sold her the baby. Bio mom gets a huge payout from the hospital.

I think Harper is probably as talented as Trout, but obviously not as consistent.

Some people have mentioned Donaldson, who according to WAR has been pretty consistently the second best player in the AL after Trout.

This is the second thread I've seen where this person has posted something nonsensical. It's as if they're on some other forum or something. It's bizarre.

Alexis Manigo, kidnapped as infant, arrives in Jacksonville-Manigo, family celebrated father's birthday Saturday

Family told News4JAX that Kamiyah Mobley, who now goes by the name Alexis Manigo, arrived in Jacksonville Saturday night.

Manigo was kidnapped at birth 18 years ago. On Saturday, she met with her biological family at the Vibe Nightclub on Philips Highway. They were celebrating her father, Craig Aiken's birthday.

Family said Manigo is happy to be back in Jacksonville. She said all of her paternal family members were at the club and getting to know her better.

"Everybody is just really loving on her. Everybody is just really happy that she's here," Teena Gee, Alexis Manigo's brother's teacher, said. "It's a blessing that she's here."

Media was not allowed into the club. News4Jax asked Gee what was next for the family and Manigo.

"This has been a journey for her," Gee said. "I'm sure she just wants everyone to give her some space and some time to really adjust to everything that's going on."

It's unclear how long Manigo will be in town, or if she is moving back.

Nothing much. The mom pleads not guilty, back to court May 30th.

If there was something more to this, wouldn't it have come out by now? Unless they're saving it for court if there was more...but why wait that long?

Accused kidnapper of newborn wants more time for plea deal

A woman facing a November trial on charges of kidnapping a newborn 19 years ago wants more time to work on a resolution with prosecutors.

Williams has been sitting in the Duval County Jail for 160 days since she was extradited to Florida after being arrested in Walterboro, South Carolina, in January.

Williams is slated to go on trial Nov. 13, although her defense attorney said she and the prosecutor are trying to negotiate a plea agreement.

Williams appeared in good spirits Thursday in court as her attorney asked the judge for more time to work on a plea agreement.

Other than a few national television interviews, Manigo has been pretty quiet since her life became a global headline.

Gloria Williams pleads guilty in 1998 kidnapping of Kamiyah Mobley

The woman accused of kidnapping a newborn from a Jacksonville hospital 20 years ago and raising the girl as her own pleaded guilty Monday morning to charges of kidnapping and interference with custody.

In exchange for pleading guilty, Gloria Williams is asking for a sentence of between zero and 22 years on the kidnapping charge and zero to five years or less on the interference charge. She will be able to serve both sentences at the same time.

Williams answered Circuit Judge Marianne Aho’s questions with mostly one-word, "yes" or "no" answers. She told the judge that she was pleading guilty in the case because she is guilty and had not been promised anything from anyone in exchange for the plea.

Williams will remain in the Duval County jail for nearly three more months before learning her sentence.

A woman who kidnapped a newborn at a Jacksonville hospital 20 years ago and raised the baby girl as her own apologized to her and her biological parents during an emotional sentencing hearing Friday. The sentencing hearing for 52-year-old Gloria Williams was stretching into its second day in a Jacksonville courtroom Friday when Williams took the stand.

Williams apologized to Kamiyah, now 20, who was sitting in the courtroom.

"I never meant to hurt you. I never meant to cause you any harm, any pain, any of that. I'm sorry," Williams said. "I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me. I tried to love you the best way I could."

Williams also apologized to Kamiyah's parents, who gave emotional testimony Thursday, saying the abduction "destroyed" them. She asked for their forgiveness.

"I know I can't give you back the 18 years," Williams said. "If I could, I would."
On Thursday, Shanara Mobley broke down on the stand Thursday as she addressed her daughter, who was sitting in the courtroom gallery, reports CBS affiliate WJAX.

"It doesn't heal. I'm still hurting. I am your mother, Kamiyah. I am your mother!" she said.

Mobley testified she believes Williams should be sentenced to death, but because it's not on the table she urged Aho to hand her to the maximum prison term of 22 years.

Grandson of Jacksonville baby kidnapper shot, killed

A grandson of Gloria Williams, the woman who pled guilty to kidnapping a Jacksonville baby in 1998, was shot and killed last Friday.

Aiden Martin, 3, found a gun and accidentally shot and killed himself, the news station reported. The boy died Saturday morning.

The toddler lived in Walterboro, S.C., the same town where Williams lived and raised Kamiyah Mobley after she was kidnapped from a Jacksonville hospital in 1998.

The Florida woman who pleaded guilty to kidnapping a newborn and raising the child as her own has been sentenced to 18 years in prison.

Gloria Williams stared at the floor as fourth Judicial Circuit Judge Marianne Aho announced her punishment.

"There are no winners and no losers in this case," Aho told the courtroom. "It's a very sad case and many people have suffered, including Ms. Williams."

Kamiyah Mobley: Biological mom says she cut ties with teen for speaking to jailed abductor who raised her

The biological mother of a Florida teen who was abducted at birth said she’s cut ties with her daughter for still pursuing a relationship with her kidnapper.

Shanara Mobley, 36, told the Daily Mail that daughter Kamiyah, 19, has refused to sever ties with Gloria Williams—the woman who posed as a nurse and abducted her from a Jacksonville, Florida, hospital in 1998—even after she was sentenced to 18 years last week. Shanara recalled giving birth to Kamiyah at 16 and encountering the woman who would take her and raise her as her own for nearly two decades.
While Shanara said she’s always open to rekindling a relationship with her estranged daughter, the mother said she still believes Williams should’ve been sentenced to death. Despite her mother’s strong hatred for Williams, Kamiyah reportedly continues to speak with her abductor mother from behind bars.

“Every phone call they share, every Mother’s Day card Kamiyah sends her, it just makes the pain worse,” Shanara said.

“I’m being rejected for a kidnapper, how do you think that feels?”

'I need my mother home': Woman, 23, who was stolen from the hospital as a newborn and raised by her kidnapper for 18 years begs for 'mercy' for 'mom' who took her, urging court to reduce her 18-year prison sentence

A woman who was kidnapped from a hospital at birth nearly 25 years ago has asked the court to have mercy on the woman who stole her, arguing that the kidnapper is the only mother she has ever known — and she needs her home.

In 1998, Gloria Williams kidnapped Kamiyah Mobley from a Jacksonville, Florida, hospital just hours after her biological mother, a then-16-year-old Shanara Mobley gave birth to her. She then took her home to raise her as her own.

The crime wasn't discovered until 2017, and Williams subsequently pleaded guilty to the kidnapping and was sentenced to 18 years in prison.

'I am writing this letter in support of my mother, Gloria Williams,' Kamiyah wrote in a letter, which was obtained by Actions News Jax.

'I would like to make it clear that she is my mother. She raised me, and not only provided for my needs, but she loved me unconditionally,' she said.

'I had a well-rounded life; and I am an independent, college educated, and deeply spiritual person, because of all my mom gave me. I am fully aware of how our lives came to be, what they are, and how my mom came to be my mom.

'I have met my birth parents, and I am grateful to have me my birth parents, and I am grateful to have a 2nd family in my life — especially to have siblings.

'I understand that none of this modifies the truth of the past, nor does it justify my mom’s actions in any way,' she continued,

'However, at the end of the day, I love my mother and I wholeheartedly support her! I ask for the court’s grace and mercy, as I need my mother home.'

The letter was included in Williams' motion to a judge to consider shortening her sentence in December.

I can't say that she's wrong for the way she feels. Regardless of how horrible it was for that woman to kidnap her, she did raise her seemingly well and she's all that she's ever known as a Mom. It's not like you can just erase the love you have for someone just because you discovered that they committed a crime. You also can't expect her to love her bio parents because to her they're strangers. I'm glad that she has contact with them though.

It's a difficult situation because in a way you're not just punishing the kidnapper here. You're punishing the victim at the same time. I feel bad for the daughter, the woman that kidnapped her can burn in hell as far as I'm concerned.

I don't remember any of the details of this... was "mom" acquainted with the birth family? Or was this totally random? I mean, I could almost see justifying this if you knew that the new parents weren't going to be able to care for the baby or some such.
