VENTNOR CITY, N.J. (WPVI) -- The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit is investigating the suspicious deaths of two women Sunday afternoon.

The women's bodies were discovered at the Vassar Square Condominiums at 4800 Boardwalk in Ventnor City.

Action News spoke with some residents of the condos who said the incident occurred on the 8th floor of the building.

One resident said he first noticed police activity this morning and said officers have been talking to residents all day. He also said he has lived in the building for decades and something like this is highly unusual.



"Completely sort of out of body for this building. I mean this is just - this building has been here for a long time. Residents are all family. And so for something like this - it's really weird," said Jeff Goldberg. "About 10:30 this morning there were a lot of police officers - actually fire department- all the elevators came down to the ground floor so nobody was allowed upstairs and then slowly we heard there was an incident in the building."

Residents Connie Hill and Randi Flexner said the elevators are what tipped them off to something being awry Sunday morning,

"The elevator. We couldn't come down the elevator and we had to take the steps down. There were just police everywhere. The fire department was here. Tons of police," they said.

Officials say this appears to be an isolated incident and the public is not in any danger.

The victims' names have not been released.

There is no word on any arrests or potential suspects at this time.

Nah, not this time. If they're saying "suspicious" right from the start there's usually some obvious sign of violence or another party being involved - sometimes they get it wrong, but not in this case by the sounds of it.

The bodies of 87-year-old Elaine Rosen and 67-year-old Michelle Gordon were found around 10:25 a.m. Sunday inside the Vassar Square Condominiums at 4800 Boardwalk.

Both were homicide victims who apparently died of blunt force trauma, the prosecutor's office said.

Autopsies for both victims are scheduled for Tuesday.

No arrests have been made, but Prosecutor Damon Tyner said this is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.

Heather's brother seems to blame their mother!

“The reason I’m not mad with Heather and the reason I’m not angry is because my sister could make this girl insane,” Rosen said. “She could push buttons that would trigger anyone’s temper, literally, to the point of murder.”

Gordon picked apart “everything she did,” Rosen said, including how she behaved, her jobs, friends, and even her weight and hair. “Heather is the sweetest girl in the world,” Rosen said. “This is a girl that if somebody ever would come to me and say, ‘Tell me the name of the last person in the world that you think would commit murder,’ I would say Heather.”
