FORT WORTH
An 18-year-old Joshua man died at a local hospital after being shot over the weekend, police said Sunday.
Officials at the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office identified the victim as Chaz Gilley, who was pronounced dead at 3:32 p.m. Saturday at John Peter Smith Hospital.
Gilley died in the operating room almost 24 hours after being shot, police said.
The shooting call came in shortly after 4:30 p.m. Friday at 2350 E. Berry St.
Paramedics who responded found Gilley at a neighborhood fire station, where a motorist had taken him. Gilley was shot several times, authorities said.
The teen was taken to John Peter Smith, where he died Saturday.
Police did not release any additional details or a motive for the killing.
“Homicide detectives are investigating the incident at this time,” officer Jimmy Pollozani said in an email Sunday. “No further information will be revealed as homicide detectives are in the initial stages of the investigation.”
