Kelly Rose Llewellyn, age 27, tragically passed away July 20, 2016 at her home in Austin, Texas.
Kelly was born in Houston, Texas on November 10, 1988 to her proud parents, Patti and Richard Llewellyn. Kelly and family lived several years in northwest Houston. When she was 4, they moved to The Woodlands, Texas where Kelly resided until she went to college.
Kelly graduated from The Woodlands High School in 2006 and from Southwestern University (Georgetown, Texas) in 2010, with a major in German.
Kelly was gifted in many areas, including language, music, and art. In college, she tutored German and assisted many fellow students by editing their papers. She started music at a young age, playing the piano, but switched to violin, where she excelled. She was very involved in the orchestra and was selected for many regional and state orchestras. A high-light of her life was playing violin for a production of Oliver.
After graduating from college, Kelly encountered a rough economy, like so many in her generation. She didn?t have a clear career direction. However, she was adamant that she support herself. She started as a substitute teacher at a high school, then over time, taught younger students. She had found her calling ? teaching, working with, and caring for the younger kids. Kelly spent the last several years working with the babies at Mainspring Schools. She loved the children, the parents, and the fellow staff. She was dedicated to working with them, and helping the kids and parents, in any way she could, to get a good start in life.
Kelly loved her cats, Abbey, Simy, Penny, Onyx, and others. She adopted Austin as her home and loved the music, arts, and lifestyle in Austin.
Kelly was the pride and joy of her mother, Patti Llewellyn (Oberholtzer) who passed away several years ago. Kelly missed her very much.
Kelly is survived by an extended family that loved her deeply. Her father, Richard Llewellyn, Robert Oberholtzer, uncle, Klara and Duff Oberholtzer, aunt and uncle, Janet and Ted Lukeman, aunt and uncle, David Llewellyn, uncle, Kate Llewellyn, aunt, and Janet Oberholtzer, grandmother. Her cousins are Jennifer Llewellyn, Adrien Lightfoot, Ross Lukeman, Nora Barak, and Bella Barak.
A memorial service for Kelly will be held Sunday, July 24, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Harrell Funeral Homes ? 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, TX 78745.
After the service, a reception will be at the Mainspring School ? 1100 West Live Oak Street, Austin TX 78704. We invite all to attend.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Mainspring Schools; a non-profit organization serving the economically disadvantage children in Austin. Kelly loved the school, its mission, and all of the people associated with it.
Kelly?s family, especially her father, would like to express his appreciation to all of Kelly?s friends for their friendship to Kelly, support they provided, and how they had enriched her life.
Kelly ? a sweet person, good to the core ? we will miss you so very much.
