I was directed to this site from another board. I was sickened, disgusted and appalled at the site at first, not the content so much but the comments. The more I looked, the more I realized that I could use this site to put a face to the things I tell my 13 y/o son not to do. We had a talk about huffing canned air about 2-3 weeks ago, and low and behold, there is a death from the same thing, he could see a picture, how the death affected her family and friends. I have always been open and honest (sometimes brutally) with my kids, now age 20, 13 and 8 months (I know, huge age gap) but this makes it really hit home for them.

So, here is a thank you for what you do.

That's so odd, just today I was thinking exactly that -- it would be such a great resource for kids to see what NOT to do. This afternoon I was wondering how this site could transition into some kind of PSA. Honestly, I spent an hour trying to figure an angle so that Mr. MDS can make this his full time job. He needs to tie in with MySpace as some kind of D.A.R.E. anti drug, firecracker in your face, anti drinking, don't fall off a blacony type thingie.

But then WE could have our insatiable appetite for obituary watching satified more quickly.

I doubt a visit to MyDeathSpace.com to read up on how some kid died of heroin will keep little Joey from bootin' up 4 years later

I'm sure it will deter some...

But I mean... how many kids/teens/adults continue to do a self-damaging act even though it killed a close friend or family member in the past.

If you're knowledgeable enough to operate a computer, I'm sure you know what has the potential to kill you.  The only problem is, you're stuck on "Well I'm smart, it'll never happen to me"

I show my 9 year old this site often. For the same reason. Tell her when she gets older not to drink and drive is different from her seeing people killed from it. She is fascinated by it.  :| Not sure if that bad or what.
I know it will not scare her into being an angel, but i got mad stories that WILL!!
