Christopher Lynn Jeffcoat, 39, was arrested Friday for failure to register as a sex offender. He was under a court order to register annually as a sex offender because of a 2004 conviction for indecency with a child. Jeffcoat pleaded guilty and served an 8-year prison sentence.
Specifically, he was accused of touching a 13-year-old girl’s genitals and breasts.
Jeffcoat had previously registered as a sex offender at a residence in the 6100 block of County Road 6500. That’s not far from a house where Holli Jeffcoat, 18, was found murdered on February 10.
Court records in a different court case indicated that Christopher Jeffcoat was the father of Holli Jeffcoat.
No one has been charged for Holli Jeffcoat’s murder but her mother, Debbi Holland, and step-father, James Holland, both remained in jail for continuous sexual abuse of a child.
Mr. Holland was accused of having sex with an underage girl related to Holli and Mrs. Holland was accused of facilitating it. Both were held Friday in the Lubbock County Detention Center.
Before she was murdered, Holli Jeffcoat told school officials that she had been sexually abused and impregnated by James Holland.
This is actually the second time Christopher Jeffcoat was accused of failing to register as a sex offender. He was found guilty of the offense in July of 2014 and ordered to serve 60 days in jail, according to court records.
Officials were told that Christopher Jeffcoat was staying in the 9400 block of Erskine Street.
So far, search warrants and official statements have led to James Holland as the primary person of interest in the murder case.
* NOTE: Sometimes sexual abuse cases use a pseudonym which might be possible with the 2004 conviction. But the name listed in the 2004 case was not Holli Jeffcoat nor anyone else that we see listed in other court records related to her family.
