    Sounds like suicide

I'm so sad to being doing this right now, but I need you all to know. My big brother, Devin Etheridge, Sergeant of Marines and loved by oh so many people passed away yesterday early evening. As many of you know he struggled with PTSD from his time in the service and yesterday he lost that battle. 33 years of age, raised in Arlington, Texas and attended Mansfield High, class of 2001. He is loved so much by so many people, make sure this message reaches all of them.

We have not decided on services but I will keep you updated as decisions are made. Thank you all.

Please reach out to your loved ones and let them know how much you love them.

Really sad. PTSD is something many of our soldiers suffer from.

That's sad. Do you think they ruled it accidental to ease this for the family? The above statement kind of hints it was a choice.

If it was just xanax, it would take a lot to kill you....

It was an accident. The VA was sending boxes and boxes of hundreds of xanax every month. They didn't require him to get counseling. He took more and more to manage anxiety. Then he took too many. He went to sleep. He never woke up. We tried everything to help. It wasn't suicide. He was my little brother. It's been two years next month...but I just googled his name and found this. I felt the need to set the record straight. Prescription pill overuse and overdose kills thousands of veterans. My heart will never stop being broken. Our lives will never be the same. We were born 18 months apart. Aging without him is a nightmare. Seeing DJ have to exceed his age this year is a nightmare. Finding someone you love on a site like this is a nightmare.

I'm very sorry for your loss acenewland. At first blush you probably think this is a morbid and terrible site. Quite the contrary. Many of the members here have also lost loved ones to issues the same as your Brother. Suicide, addiction... You name it and we all know how it feels losing someone close.

We have threads on here dedicated to helping those suffering from addiction, mental illness and for survivors of suicide. I assure you that the majority here do not condone the way Big Pharm, the VA and some Doctors operate.

I'm so very sorry you lost him. Thank you for letting us know more about him.
