    Dr. Stacey Michelle Carawan West, 27 of Dumas, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2016. Memorial services are scheduled for 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at First Street Church with Rev. Will Rice officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.

    Stacey was born April 13, 1988 in Corpus Christi, TX to Michael and Shirley (Merritt) Carawan. She grew up in Corpus Christi and graduated from Calallen High School in 2006. Stacey had told her mother in the third grade that she wanted to be a dentist. To realize this goal, she continued her education at Texas A&M University earning a Bachelor's degree in Biology, graduating magna cum laude in 2010. Stacey attended University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio earning her Doctorate of Dental Surgery, graduating with the highest honors in 2014. While at Texas A&M, she met Daniel C. West whom she would marry on November 24, 2012, at the University United Methodist Church in San Antonio. The couple would move to Dumas where she worked at Dumas Family Dentistry and also in Amarillo at Class I Dental
    Associates.

    Dr. Stacey West was a member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Panhandle District Dental Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honors Fraternity, Dumas Noon Lion's Club, Esprit Club, and University United Methodist Church in San Antonio. She loved watching Aggie football games and her malti-poo, Todd. With all her professional achievements, her greatest pride was being a mother to Logan and spending time with Daniel and her family.

    She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Arthur Jr. and Lois Merritt; paternal grandfather Mickey Carawan; Aunt Caroline Merritt.

    She is survived by her husband Daniel C. West and their son Logan of the home; mother Shirley Carawan of Ft. Worth; Michael Carawan and wife Stacy of Corpus Christi; sister Melissa Carawan of Dallas; father and mother-in-law Daniel P. and Angela West of Dumas; maternal grandmother Frances Carawan of Aransas Pass; uncles: Gordon Merritt of San Antonio, Lynn Merritt and wife Carol of San Antonio and Steve Carawan of Hazard, KY; aunts: Joy Howze and husband Jo of College Station, Debbie Hodges and husband Greg of New Bern, NC; sister-in-law's: Laura West of Dumas and Whitney West of College Station.
