To be fair to Little Duck, I was the one that brought up fact that they seemed to have a "strange" relationship. At the very least, they had a very inappropriate relationship.
It's called Genetic Sexual Attraction and there are countless studies on it. Adoptive kids/parents are counseled on this before they meet their kids. It's a very real (sorry, don't know how it's classified) issue involving kids that didn't grow up around their parents. I'm not saying there was incest, but I do think it could explain some of the reason why she was partying it up with her son. It explains why she had an inappropriate relationship with him....maybe.
Also, look at the fact that she's 30 or 31 now. That means she was about 15 or 16 when she had him.
I'm not making excuses for mom being a shitty person. No doubt she was.
Here's one article about GSA on the adoptive site. In this article it explains how kids were attracted to their real parents, didn't have sex with them...but did have inappropriate thoughts about them.

Heather Frye, 32, pleaded guilty Wednesday to involuntary manslaughter, endangering children and evidence tampering
Brenda Frye, 52, Andrew's grandma, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and heroin trafficking for procuring the heroin
http://www.ohio.com/news/local/akron...-him-1.708657#The mother and grandmother of 16-year-old Andrew Frye pleaded guilty Wednesday to giving him the heroin that killed him in a Green hotel room in April.
The mother, Heather Frye, 32, and grandmother, Brenda Frye, 52, will be sentenced on Oct. 12.
The mother faces up to 11 years in prison, while the grandmother faces up to eight years, as well as punishment for violating probation in other cases.
Heather Frye pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, endangering children and evidence tampering. Brenda Frye pleaded to involuntary manslaughter and heroin trafficking.
Heather Frye has spent time in prison before.
Andrew?s April 6 death garnered national attention due to his family members? involvement. According to police reports, Brenda Frye delivered the drugs that her daughter and a friend used with Andrew.
After waking to find Andrew unresponsive, Heather Frye ? who did not have custody but told police she wanted to be the ?fun weekend mom? ? called 911 and hysterically told the dispatcher her son was dead.
Heather Frye?s friend, Jessica Irons, also pleaded guilty on Wednesday. She was sentenced to four years in prison on charges of involuntary manslaughter, evidence tampering and two counts related to other cases.
Irons, 35, dressed in an orange jail jumpsuit, wept silently while Summit County Judge Lynne Callahan walked her through the process of changing her plea. When given a chance to speak, Irons declined.
Irons? attorney, Donald Hicks, said it would be Irons? first stint in prison.
?I hope this can redirect her,? he told the judge.
Callahan agreed, calling the case a ?tragedy.?
?You might have a chance to start over,? Callahan said. ?Good luck, Ms. Irons.?
The fourth person involved in the case, Donald Callaghan, 59, is expected to stand trial Sept. 12 for a count of heroin possession. He was identified in April as Brenda Frye?s boyfriend.

I know of a few 'moms' like this in my town. Sometimes you have to love your kid enough to let them hate you.
A mother has been sentenced to nine years in prison for her role in the heroin death of her 16-year-old son - and the boy's grandmother will be joining her behind bars.
Both Heather Frye and her mother Brenda Frye pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the death of Andrew Frye on April 6.
Andrew was found dead, face down in a chair, from a heroin overdose in a Super 8 motel room in Green, Ohio.
His mother and grandma, both admitted heroin addicts, were passed out in the same room.
