A Belle Fourche man and his adult daughter are facing child sex crime charges.

42-year-old Jeremy Rosales and his 19-year-old daughter Caitlin Rosales were arrested Feb. 18 and charged with child porn and solicitation of a minor, a 15-year-old girl.

Each suspect could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted. They're scheduled to enter pleas on March 24.

A telephone call to the Jeremy Rosales home was not answered.

So apparently the daughter Caitlin (if that is her FB page) had a baby recently given this comment from one of her friends:

She's a grown woman, but I have a tough time not feeling at least a little sorry for her likely circumstances, if it is the case. And if so, legal intervention is probably the best thing to ever happen to her.

I know the whole "you can never tell by looking at someone" but to be honest, when I saw pics of her it was not what I expected. She just looked like...a normal, happy 19 year old. I wonder what kind of evidence they have against her?

She posted about someone named Billy passing away about a week ago. Wonder who he is to her...a friend I am guessing? Looks like her boyfriend/ex-boyfriend (father of her baby) is named Jon so it can't be him...

BELLE FOURCHE — A woman arrested in February on charges of possession of child pornography and solicitation of a minor was arrested again Tuesday on witness tampering charges for allegedly threatening the juvenile victim of the original offense.
Caitlin Rosales, 19, was arrested Feb. 18 after she reportedly encouraged the 15-year-old female to send nude photographs of herself to and engage in sexual acts with Caitlin’s 42-year-old father, Jeremy Rosales.
During interviews with police officers both Jeremy and Caitlin allegedly admitted to the crimes, according to court documents. They were arrested and later released on bond.
The witness tampering charge a Class 4 felony, punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment in the state penitentiary and a fine of up to $20,000, was filed after Caitlin allegedly threatened the juvenile. Possession of child pornography and solicitation of a minor are also Class 4 felonies.
One of Caitlin’s original bond conditions stipulated she was not to have contact with the victim.
As a result of these most recent charges, the Butte County States Attorney’s office on Wednesday filed a motion to revoke Caitlin’s conditional release.
The pair is scheduled for arraignment on March 24 at the Butte County Courthouse in Belle Fourche.

So I know this is an old thread but stumbled upon it (and there are never a lot of posts anymore so I don't feel bad bumping) but I went through her FB. She is posting recently, and even posted an "in honor of father's day" post to her dad. Wonder if she even got jail time?

A Belle Fourche woman charged with possession of child pornography, solicitation of a minor, and witness tampering was in court Monday where she changed pleas she originally entered April 20 related to the charges.

Caitlin Rosales, 19, and her father, Jeremy Rosales, 42, were arrested Feb. 18 by Belle Fourche Police officers. Each was charged with two Class 4 felonies related to the allegations after an anonymous source reported online communications to police between the elder Rosales and a 15-year-old female.

During interviews with police officers, both Jeremy and Caitlin allegedly admitted to the allegations.

Caitlin was arrested again March 8 on witness tampering charges for allegedly threatening the juvenile victim of the original offense.

The original witness tampering complaint against Rosales was amended on June 17 by the Butte County State’s Attorney Cassie Wendt, to include a second count of contributing to the abuse or neglect of a child, a Class 1 misdemeanor punishable by up to one year imprisonment in a county jail or $2,000 fine, or both.

At Monday’s hearing Rosales pleaded guilty to witness tampering and contributing to the abuse or neglect of a child whilst the possession of child pornography and solicitation of minor charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement between herself and Wendt.

Both possession of child pornography and solicitation of a minor are Class 4 felonies, punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment in state penitentiary and a fine of up to $20,000. Witness tampering is also a Class 4 felony.

Presiding over the case, Fourth Circuit Court Judge Michael Day ordered a presentence investigation report. The purpose of the investigation is to investigate the history of a person convicted of a crime before sentencing to determine if there are extenuating circumstances, which should ameliorate the sentence, or a history of criminal behavior to increase the harshness of the sentence.

Rosales’ sentencing hearing has been set for Sept. 28.

I see her posting continuously so I doubt she went to jail. And it seems like she didn't get her kids taken away, which is crazy if she was charged with child pornography. Maybe they were dropped.

Caitlin Rosales, 19, Belle Fourche, was sentenced last week for contributing to the abuse or neglect of a minor and witness tampering for threatening the girl involved in the case.

In a plea bargain arrangement, Rosales had pleaded guilty to witness tampering and contributing to abuse, neglect or delinquency of a minor.

On the witness tampering charge, she received a four-year probation and a "suspended imposition of sentence" that means successful completion would remove the conviction from her record.

One condition is completion of a psychological evaluation and completing required programs.

On the contribution to abuse charge, she received a 20-day jail term and a year's probation concurrent with the witness tampering sentence.

Along with the sentence, she is ordered to pay fines and fees incurred in the criminal proceedings.

Rosales had been accused of encouraging a 15-year-old girl to send nude pictures to Rosales' father, and engage in sexual activity with him.

BELLE FOURCHE | A Belle Fourche man was sentenced to five years in the state penitentiary Wednesday on charges of child pornography and solicitation of a 15-year-old girl.

Butte County Circuit Judge Michael Day ordered that the two sentences of Jeremy Jon Rosales, 42, be served concurrently.

The sentences on each charge technically were for seven years in prison with two years suspended on condition of paying costs, complying with treatment programs and parole requirements during the suspended portion of the prison sentence, and registration as a sex offender.

Both sentences had been agreed to in a plea agreement. The potential maximum penalty on each Class 4 felony count is 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $20,000.

Day told Rosales in introducing the sentence that the pre-sentence investigation "did not indicate you are a safety risk."

But, he said, Rosales had test scores indicating a high level of "adult anti-social behavior."

"You were grooming her to have sex with her," Day told Rosales, who admitted he had enlisted his daughter, Caitlin, to help in that effort. Caitlin Rosales was sentenced to 20 days plus probation in a plea agreement in October.

Rosales told the court before sentencing, "I would like to apologize, first of all to the victim."

Speaking of his communication with the victim that resulted in a photo of her nude upper body and his photo of himself nude, he said, "It was a disgusting act.

"I just want to be a better citizen and role model" to his children and grandchildren.

Assistant state Attorney General Robert Haivala said before sentencing, "This is one of the most shocking cases I have seen."

He added that a solid prison sentence is called for, not only for punishment, but also because "we need to protect our kids."

Defense attorney Matthew Kinney of Spearfish noted a relatively clean record and honorable Navy service for Rosales, and that he was doing sex offender therapy through the Department of Veterans Affairs.

"There is no contact involved," Kinney argued. "His failure to stop himself is his biggest mistake."
