I don't think that's true. As long as you meet the age requirements (not talking about disability part of Medicare) I don't think assess your income for overall eligibility. You can pay higher premiums if they consider you high income, but I don't think they can kick you off it. If one of the family members on Medicare had to go into long term care though, they would probably have to pay that out of pocket.
