A South Carolina mother who said her 11-month-old daughter was kidnapped before the baby was found dead in a diaper box has been charged with lying to police and improperly disposing of a body.

Chesterfield County Sheriff Jay Brooks said 19-year-old Breanna Lewis told deputies she was attacked and her baby was taken from her arms as she checked the mail Tuesday afternoon.

Mom of SC baby found dead in diaper box now charged with murder

The South Carolina mother accused of lying about her baby's kidnapping is now being charged with her murder, officials say.

According to Chesterfield County jail, 19-year-old Breanna Lewis is charged with homicide by child abuse in the death of Harlee Lane Lewis . The infant's body was found back in May in a diaper box not far from her home.

On May 29, Harlee was found dead in a diaper box in a plastic bag about 1,000 yards away from her home two hours after the initial report by two deputies, the sheriff said. Lewis confessed that she made up her original story of the assault and abduction. Her black eye was sustained from a car accident she was in prior to the incident.
