I agree ~ Ransom Barefoot. What a name!

It has been rumored for awhile now that Barton was not Lonzie's father.

Apparently not. This article is from about a month ago: http://m.actionnewsjax.com/news/news...ologica/npcky/

I was surprised when I read it, because I thought Lonzie resembled Chris Barton. Guess Barton was probably surprised, too

I'm glad they finally found poor Lonzie. I'm also glad Ruben has at least enough of a soul to reveal the location, or they probably would have never found him.

Lonzie's fate: A timeline of key events

    2015
May 30 - William Ruben Ebron Jr. is arrested in Baker County on a couple of drug and other minor charges. Lonna Lauramore Barton was with him at the time and also investigated. She is evicted from her Macclenny apartment as a result.

July 1 - Ebron is accused of raping his ex-girlfriend at his apartment with Lonzie and four other children in the home at the time. No charges are filed.

July 6 - The ex-girlfriend files a domestic-violence injunction for protection against him after repeated threats and him boasting "he knows the system and he can get away with anything that he does to me, my children and my sister and her children."

July 10 - The ex-girlfriend's sister requests an injunction against Ebron.

July 23 - Ebron and new girlfriend Lauramore Barton get into a fight over her 21-month-old son, Lonzie, having a bruise on the back of his head, vomiting and having yellow liquid coming out the ear. She leaves to go to work at Wacko's gentlemen's club.

July 24 - At 2:22 a.m. Ebron reports Lonzie's been abducted when his car was stolen with the boy inside at Ravenwood Apartments on South Old Kings Road, Jacksonville. He tells police he was getting ready to pick up Lauramore Barton from Wacko's. About 15 minutes later the car is located less than a mile away with no one inside. An Amber Alert is issued at 6:20 a.m. By midnight Ebron is charged with child neglect.

July 27 - During the search for Lonzie, the remains of a man are uncovered in the woods in a business park off Fortune Parkway near The Avenues mall. Turns out to be Kevin Williams, 39, who vanished after a fight with his wife May 28, 2013. Police don't suspect foul play.

July 28 - The search turns up another body, this one in a submerged car in a pond in the 5400 block of Bowden Road. Turns out to be Yaroslav Iventyev, a 22-year-old sailor missing since Jan. 31, 2003, when he was last seen at the Russian Moscow Nights Restaurant nearby. No foul play is suspected.

Aug. 2 - The 10-day police search involving hundreds of officers scouring about 40 square miles and diving dozens of retention ponds and lakes to find Lonzie Barton is drastically scaled back as the chances of finding the child alive appear grim. The reward for information leading to the recovery of the boy reaches $12,800.

Aug. 3 - Police release surveillance footage showing Ebron's car driving by within blocks of where investigators found it, then minutes later a man they say is Ebron sprinting back toward his apartment, conflicting with his story. The video was taken about 10 minutes before he calls police. Chief Tom Hackney says the case is no longer considered a possible abduction, but a homicide, and cancels the Amber Alert.

Aug. 14 - State Attorney's Office adds a charge against Ebron of giving fale information to police.

Aug. 18 - Lauramore Barton is charged with child neglect and giving false information. Police reveal that Ebron wasn't going to pick her up, but had actually called to tell her to get a ride. Police then bump into her during their search and she denies knowing Ebron or his car. She also doesn't tell police about their fight over Lonzie and his health.

Aug. 24 - Lauramore Barton is released on $50,000 surety bond.

Aug. 27 - Ebron has additional charges added of attempted escape, criminal conspiracy, unlawful possession of a concealed handcuff key and introducing/smuggling contraband into a detention facility. Another inmate alerted police that he had a plastic handcuff key and a waiting getaway car and planned to escape during a court appearance.

Sept. 1 - Judge tells Ebron he cannot speak with anyone in the case directly or indirectly after prosecutors sought the ban following 31 phone calls to his ex-girlfriend and trying to pass messges through his parents. The judge makes an exception for Ebron's parents, whom he could still speak with if his lawyers are present.

Sept. 16 - On the day of a custody hearing for Lonzi's 5-year-old sister, Lauramore Barton and Christopher Barton are arrested on several drug charges.

Sept. 22 - Judge rules Ebron cannot have any contact with his parents or other potential witnesses in the case.

Sept. 23 - Judge revokes Lauramore Barton's bond due to her Baker County drug arrest.

Sept. 28 - Judge Marianne Aho recuses herself from the case after media made a motion against a proposed gag order. Aho once worked for the law firm of one of the media's lawyers so deemed it a conflict.

Sept. 29 - Judge Mark Borello replaces Aho.

    Oct. 17 - Lonzie's birthday, he would be 2.

December - DNA evidence suggests Christopher Barton is not the child's biological father.

    2016

Jan. 6 - Lauramore Barton pleads guilty to one count each of child neglect and lying to police, agreeing to testify against Ebron. She still says she doesn't know what happened to Lonzie.

Jan. 9 - Ransom Barefoot, another man who claims to be Lonzie's father, is charged with aggravated battery after a man is attacked at Mac's Liquors in Macclenny.

Jan. 11 - Ebron, who waives his right to speedy trial, led police to the remains of what police believe is Lonzie off Synder Street near Florida 9B and Philips Highway.

While he was a presence in Lonzie's life, DNA evidence in the case obtained by First Coast News suggests Chris is not the child's "biological" father.

"This person is not the father of that child," says Nancy Peterson, a former Florida Department of Law Enforcement specialist and DNA/forensics expert witness who reviewed the data. According to Peterson, the DNA profiles of Lonzie, his mother Lonna, and Chris Barton contravenes Chris Barton's own sworn statement, police reports, court records – and the claims of the boy's mother.

"He's definitely eliminated from being the father," she told First Coast News.

DNA profiles consist of 16 alleles — groups of two numbers that represent specific gene patterns. One number matches the mother, and the other matches the biological father. If more than three of the 16 don't match, paternity is excluded – definitively. In the case of Chris Barton, 9 did not match.

The state also collected DNA from Lonna's then-boyfriend, Ruben Ebron — the man police consider the chief suspect in the boy's disappearance — and the couple's landlord. According to Peterson, the DNA is conclusive on them as well. "These three males are not the father of this child. Period."

First Coast News is unable to see who is listed on Lonzie's birth certificate because those are exempt from Florida's public records law.

The fact that the DNA contradicts what the courts and law enforcement believed is a surprise. But it's not clear if it has legal implications for the state's case against Ruben Ebron. If a crime scene is eventually discovered, Criminal defense attorney Janet Johnson says DNA could be used to discern a person's presence – or absence. But without a crime scene, she wasn't sure evidence of paternity would even be admissible.

"Quite frankly what's the relevancy of that? Does it tend to prove or disprove somebody did something? Not really. Unless you could say that Mr. Barton had just found out this isn't his child, and that's why he flew into a fit of rage. But that would be a really tough thing to bring in front of a jury unless you had some evidence."

Assistant State Attorney Richard Mantei, the lead prosecutor in the case, wouldn't comment on whether the evidence would figure into trial. However, he noted, "The paternity of children in question would not matter from a legal perspective, because you can neglect a child that is your own and you can neglect a child that isn't your own."

The Public Defender's Office was not available to comment before deadline.

Chris Barton is currently in the Baker County jail on drug charges. Lonna Barton and Ruben Ebron are in Duval County Jail on charges of child neglect and lying to police. None have been charged in the boy's death or disappearance. Without a body or a crime scene, proving anyone harmed the missing child is a tall order.

"Every time there's a dad, there's a mom, there's a child, there's a boyfriend, there's a million motives we could all come up with," says Johnson. "Jealousy is right at the top of the list. But that's not necessarily going to help convict somebody."

Ransom's facebook page is linked somewhere on here. When little lonzie went missing, I remember some of the family said that Ransom was Lonzie's dad.

Ransom has said that Chris' name had to be on the birth certificate because Lonna was married to Chris.

I doubt if Lonna even knows who the real dad is. She's kind of like the town bike. It seems like everybody has rode her. (i mean come on....they even tested her landlord)

Macclenny funeral home to bury Lonzie
As family awaits confirmation on remains, Ruben Ebron allowed jail visits again

A Macclenny funeral director has already arranged to bury Lonzie, free of charge.

"As long as I've been in business, I've never charged for a child. Ever,” Todd Ferreira said. “This is no different."

Ferreira, the director of V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services, said Lonzie's family and the community that searched for him deserve closure.

“It is heart-wrenching to see this happen,” he said. “As a person, I am around death all day long. All day, every day, 24 hours a day. But infants and children, when they pass away, either from a natural death or an unnatural death, it just touches me.”

Ferreira said he's there to serve Lonzie's family, giving them one less thing to worry about during a difficult and dramatic time.

    Todd Ferreira
“What is important to us is Lonzie and his family, and that's what we are committed to,” he said. “And to giving him a special goodbye. One that he deserves.”

Ferreira is working with Lonzie's family to plan the funeral and burial and said relatives from both sides are of Lonzie's family are involved in the process.

Ferreira said he believes that the funeral will be open to the community, so that all the people who poured their hearts and souls into searching for the toddler will get to pay their respects and honor him.

Ferreira said Lonzie will be buried in Macclenny, where many of his loved ones live, but that the funeral is likely weeks away.

Bayard property owner: ?I just can't believe it happened'

The Bayard crime scene where it is believed remains of missing toddler, Lonzie Barton, were found has been cleared Friday, according to authorities.

Authorities said remains in Bayard appear to be that of Lonzie Barton, and the suspect in his disappearance, Ruben Ebron, led them to the body last Sunday night.

Gary Morrison, owner of the Bayard property said he learned about the discovery on the news and he received several phone calls about it.

?I just can?t believe it happened. It just totally blew my mind that something like this would take place here,? Morrison said. ?We had a big, dead dog laying down there and that probably was the smell, because you could come out here and smell something, but then you looked over there and saw the dead dog and didn?t pay any attention to it.?

Morrison said the smell could have been that of the remains, but he doesn?t not know. He said there have been several people dumping trash on the property for years.

?I came out here to check, there was no trash. There's been several people dumping out here. That's the main thing I was checking on, the dumping,? Morrison said. ?For years people come down and dump trash and drive off. There's been lawn maintenance people that come down here and dump all their trash also.?

Many are wondering how long the investigation will take, when the remains will be identified and if the cause of death will be revealed.

Five days following the discovery, the property where the remains were found are still taped off. Police have guarded the scene 24/7 and tons of detectives and Crime Scene Units have been seen coming and going.

Forensic Analyst Michael Knox said that could last for several more days, if not weeks and this case is going to take some patience.

?It could be a while,? Knox said. ?These are some of the most personnel-intensive types of investigations that law-enforcement can do.?

Knox spent 15 years with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office ? half as a crime scene investigator. Now he's a private forensic consultant. Knox said detectives are looking for any evidence possible; that's why they're taking so long at the scene where they found the remains.

?The search itself is extremely time-consuming because it's very tedious,? Knox said. ?That is one of the few crime scenes where I need as many hands as possible because there is just so much area to cover.?

According to Knox, officials most likely are using metal detectors and sifting through the soil for more evidence.

?The last thing the sheriff's office wants to be is responsible for what makes or breaks the case,? Knox explained.

At the same time, the medical examiner is doing an autopsy on the remains trying to positively identify them and determine the cause of death. Knox said they may be using DNA and looking at the bones for clues.

?For example if somebody is strangled, you have a bone in your throat and it can be broken due to strangulation,? Knox said.

Lonzie Barton was reported missing in July and his remains weren't found until this week. That makes it harder for investigators.

Knox said given the timeframe a significant amount of decay could be expected.

?Because we have had very warm weather all the way through the month of December, so I would expect there would be a significant amount,? Knox said.

Still, Knox says the best of the best are working to solve the case and he's confident they will get justice for the toddler.

?You have considerable amount of experience here. Especially with Chief Hackney leading the investigation,? Knox said. ?This is a man who has held every single rank within the homicide unit that there is to hold.?

A lot of people are hoping murder charges come from the investigation. Knox said that's very possible. But to remember detectives and prosecutors now have time to develop their case, especially since Ruben Ebron waived his right to a speedy trial.

With this much time passing, Knox said it could be hard to get an exact cause of death.

However Knox explained the experts will be looking for broken bones, they can look for tiny fractures in the skull, they can look for chemicals or drugs in the body, and even potentially injuries to the brain.

Mother at vigil: ?I couldn't imagine if I lost one of my babies.?

Hundreds of people celebrated the life of Lonzie Barton Thursday night, just yards away from where police believe they found his remains earlier this week.

As investigators with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office continue to collect evidence from the area where missing toddler Lonzie Barton's remains were found, preparations continued Thursday for a memorial vigil in Lonzie's honor.

The vigil was held at the Julington Baptist Church on Snyder Street in Bayard. Many of the people who attended tonight's service included some of those who searched for Lonzie and others whose lives have been affected by crime.

Just moments before the vigil began, parents and children gathered to pay their respects at a roadside memorial, many hoping they would now have closure.

?I mean it?s just so sad,? said Brandy Smith, a mother in attendance. ?I couldn't imagine if I lost one of my babies.?

Rachel Cook helped with the search. Cook spoke about a sign someone had left at the memorial sight that stated, ?I wish I looked harder.?

?It makes you wonder did I missed this or how close we were, people driving by every day and you just had no idea how close it was,? Cook said.

    Lonzie vigil
Inside the vigil no one could think about the ?what-ifs,? only appreciation for prayers that had finally been answered.

Pastor Nathaniel McClain Julington Baptist Church helped preside over the vigil services.

?There was a brightness in his eyes. When he wore those little cowboy boots I could just only imagine that he was dreaming of one day when he?d be able to fill them,? McClain said.

But that will never happen and Thursday night people who have also been a victim of losing a child to a terrible tragedy came forward with a message for the Barton family.

Diena Thompson, mother of 7-year-old Somer Thompson, who was raped and murdered nearly four years ago knows this loss all too well.

?For the family who loved and cared for Lonzie, my heart and my soul and every bit of condolence that I could ever offer here for the family that loved and cared for him,? Thompson said.

Ann Dugger, executive director of the Justice Coalition has been extremely active in the search for the missing toddler.

?When it's all done and said, little Lonzie he is still going to have a voice and it's going to be loud and it's going to be clear and we're going to make sure of that,? Dugger said.

Investigators were out at the scene for the fourth day Thursday, gathering evidence.

Organizers were expecting the memorial, which was coordinated by the church and the Justice Coalition, to be a huge event, potentially with hundreds of people at the church, all gathering as part of the healing process.

?He has just been in my heart,? Alisha Charles said. ?Every morning I prayed for this boy that they find him.?

?It is just hard to believe that somebody could do that to an innocent baby,? Joy Scott said.

The vigil started at 6 p.m. and was open to the public. Attendees arrived as early as 5 p.m. to sign a card for Lonzie.

Children from throughout the community performed and served as ushers and greeters at the event.

Chief Tom Hackney and members of his investigative team will be in attendance.

Everyone was asked to bring a long-stem flower to build a bouquet in Lonzie?s honor. The bouquet will remain at Julington Baptist Church for Sunday morning services.

Dugger said the memorial is all about giving the community a place to come and mourn, as well as to honor the boy's life.

A makeshift memorial continued to grow Thursday across the street from the church, just up the road from where the remains were discovered. People continued to come by with cards, balloons, flowers and stuffed animals, to pay respect to Lonzie.

The memorial has been a place for strangers to come together to mourn.

I think that is so sweet that the owner of the funeral home doesn't charge to bury children.

Ebron: Lonzie died in bathtub, we lied about kidnapping

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- "Lonna and I were both involved and now we have to pay the price," Ruben Ebron said at a hearing Friday where he pleaded guilty to four counts related to the death of toddler Lonzie Barton.

In court, Ebron testified that he left Lonzie unattended in the bathtub of the home he shared with the toddler's mother, Lonna Lauramore Barton. Jacksonville Sheriff's Office chief Tom Hackney said Friday that Barton and Ebron were having sex while Lonzie was in the bathtub.

When he and the child's mother returned, the child was face down in the tub, dead.

Prosecutor Rich Mantei said in court that after the death, Barton went to work at Wackos Gentlemens Club.

That's when Ebron staged the elaborate false kidnapping of the child, prompting a massive weeks-long search across the city. An AMBER Alert was issued and hundreds of police officers and volunteers scoured the area.

"He said he panicked and staged a kidnapping," State Attorney Angela Corey said in a press conference after Ebron entered a guilty plea Friday morning.

Ebron admitted to dumping the child's body in the Bayard area on the Southside of Jacksonville. In early January, Ebron led police to the site.

Prosecutors say preliminary evidence confirms that the body they found is little Lonzie's.

In court Friday, Ebron apologized to Lonzie in a statement that partially reads "I failed to protect you from the harm of others, I will and have continued to ask for forgiveness."

In accepting his plea, judge Mark Borello says "Mr. Ebron only you know how much truth is in that statement."

The big question now is what happens to Lonna, First Coast News legal analyst Janet Johnson says. Lonna faces child neglect and other counts but has not yet been charged in the child's death.

Ebron was sentenced to 20 years in state prison on four counts, the most serious being aggravated manslaughter.

Corey said Ebron's attorney approached the state about a plea, saying Lonzie's death was an accident and Ebron was remorseful.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office chief Tom Hackney, who became the police face of the search for Lonzie, said Friday "If you don't want your kids or can't care for them, find someone who does."

Hackney says Lonzie's body was found under a pile of tires.

    Poor little girl :(

    http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/i...ssing/45655272

Police also focused on what information they could glean from Barton's older sister, who had been with Ebron the night her brother went missing. In an interview with a child protective worker, the 5-year-old girl blurted out at one point, "I miss my little brother he got stolen."

"The truth is my little brother got kidnapped. I left him in the car all alone," she told child protective investigators in a follow-up interview. "It's my fault."

The girl broke down at school on Aug. 28, according to police reports. "My baby brother is dead," she said, later telling her teacher that "they killed him with a knife and threw him in the woods."

(Picture of dinosaur at link, along with map showing proximity to where Lonzie was found.)

Detectives even put the girl in a car and encouraged her to lead them to the area where Lonzie was. She directed them to Philips Highway south of the Avenues Mall. She couldn't pinpoint a spot to search, saying only, "Look in the woods," and it was near "the blue house, the green house and purple and pink houses."

"I learned from a couple of different sources that at one point, Lonzie's sister said that they came in to this area, and she identified it because she said there was a dinosaur in the yard, and also a lit fountain," WJXT crime and safety analyst Gil Smith said.

News4Jax found those colorful houses in the Bayard area Wednesday night and learned that while the lit fountain is no longer there, six months ago it sat next to a dinosaur in one front yard.

The homeowner said he had no idea that the dinosaur sculpture was a possible clue in the Lonzie Barton investigation.

"I think if she told police and police (were) here on the street a lot, they should have known to come in this area and search," homeowner Justin Worthensaid. "I mean, the dinosaur, it's been here over five to six years."

All these people are disgusting piles of shit.

    I don't believe Ebron's story at all.

I believe the 5-year-old is probably right. They knifed him, then threw him in the woods. That poor girl. She tried to help the police and I think she did a pretty amazing job.

I think the police should have released the information about the dino. They could have found Lonzie so much faster.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The mother of Lonzie Barton was sentenced to prison on Friday in connection with her son?s disappearance in Duval County Court.

Lonna Lauramore Barton pleaded guilty in January to charges of child neglect and giving false information to police. The judge sentenced Lauramore Barton to the maximum of five years in prison with a credit of 169 days served, plus fines.

Lauramore Barton is not a candidate for probation because of unrelated drug charges in Baker County.

The parents of Ruben Ebron, Lauramore Barton's boyfriend, showed for the sentencing.

"I'm never gonna dispute my son had some involvement but he wasn't alone," said William Ebron Sr. "True justice for this baby would be equal amount."

Lauramore Barton's parents were also in court for the hearing. However, no witnesses testified on either side.

Lauramore Barton's attorney said she bought fever reducer as well as eye and ear drops the day before Lonzie disappeared. The attorney also said she planned to take him to the doctor the day he went missing.

    Lonzie disappeared on July 24.

State Attorney Rich Mantei said photos on Ebron's phone showed a serious abdominal wound that would potentially be deadly and photos of multiple injuries to the head.

Lauramore Barton's attorney said she lied about being pregnant because she thought it would make Ebron tell where Lonzie was located. She can't have any more children because of a surgery she had after Lonzie was born, attorneys said.

Lonzie's remains were found in the Bayard area in January after Lauramore Barton's boyfriend, Ruben Ebron, led authorities to the remains after she pleaded guilty in exchange for testimony against Ebron. Ebron told officials Lonzie was locked in a bathroom and drowned while they were intimate.

The State Attorney said Lauramore Barton and Ebron have different versions of what happened to Lonzie, but neither can be disproved by evidence.

Attorneys said Ebron traumatized Lonzie Barton's sister when he made the girl ride in the car when Ebron dumped the toddler's body.

Mantie said an autopsy showed that Lonzie had seven healing rib fractures. The defense attorney said Lauramore Barton took Lonzie to the doctor after his sister pushed him down the stairs.

Ebron pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter and is serving a 20-year sentence.

Lauramore Barton and Ebron also face unrelated drug charges in Baker County.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- A woman sentenced to five years for neglect in the death of her 21-month-old son has received another seven years for an unrelated drug case.

The Florida Times-Union reports that 26-year-old Lonna Barton and her husband, 42-year-old Christopher Barton, pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges related to a September drug bust. Christopher Barton received three years.

The Bartons' son, Lonzie, was reported missing last summer. After months of fruitless searching, Lonna Barton's ex-boyfriend, 32-year-old William Ruben Ebron Jr., led investigators to his remains in January. He pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter and received 20 years.

Lonzie's remains were too badly decomposed to determine a cause of death. The ex-boyfriend said the child drowned while being left alone in a bathtub while he and Lonna Barton had sex.

She is a waste of human life. I hate to say it, but I hope someone shanks her while she is in prison.

Secret recordings, letters detail Lonna Barton's fake pregnancy

(April 27, 2016) JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The mother of Lonzie Barton wrote several letters to her boyfriend, who reported the toddler missing, about her alleged pregnancy while the two were in jail, according to discovery documents from the State Attorney's Office obtained by News4Jax Wednesday.

But in jailhouse conversations secretly recorded by her cellmate, Barton said she faked the pregnancy as a legal strategy.

Her son, Lonzie, was reported missing last July by Ruben Ebron, who told police that his car had been stolen with the 21-month-old inside.

Police found the toddler's remains in January after Ebron led them to a wooded area on Jacksonville's Southside where he had hidden him.

Ebron later admitted that Lonzie drowned in a bathtub while he was having sex with Barton.

Cellmate secretly recorded conversations with Barton

Barton had conversations with her cellmate, not knowing the woman was wearing a wire, while her missing son's body had yet to be found.

In the conversations, Barton talks about a faked pregnancy.

"That's what I told Josh, my lawyer, you know I'm tired of faking it. You know? I'm tired of having to wear big a** sweaters to court, to look, trying to look pregnant, you know. I am just tired of f****** with them all the way around," Barton says.

From Barton's conversation, it appears the faked pregnancy was her legal team's idea. Her cellmate asks if it was.

"They gave you that idea, huh? They gave you that idea?" the cellmate asks.

Lonna replies, "Well, they said, 'What do you think will make him -- we don't need him to turn around and lie on you -- what will put him in your corner more than anything?' I said, 'Probably saying that I was pregnant or something like that.' And they said, 'Well you need to do that, because he's getting real nasty.'"

But Rhonda Peoples-Waters, an attorney unaffiliated with the case, told News4Jax that it seems as if it was her idea.

"As attorney's we have the obligation to keep quiet and keep confidential most of our conversations with our clients," Peoples-Waters said. "There's a line that's drawn if, you know, as an attorney we know our client is putting forth a lie, and if that's the case, then we certainly have an obligation to take some steps to reveal that to the court."

The recording also captures Barton talking with her cellmate about her charges.

"Remember, he admitted, it knowing that he was drunk and doing drugs. Then how did they get you?" the cellmate asks.

"Because there were drugs in my house and I left my -- there was coke in my house, and I left my kid in the house with coke," Barton says.

In the recording, the cellmate replies, "I thought they got you through text messages, though. I don't know how they got you for the child neglect."

"Because I left my kids with a known drug dealer," Lonna says in the recorded conversation.

Barton sent letters to Ebron while toddler was missing

The pregnancy strategy seems to be backed up in letters Barton wrote behind bars.

In letters to Ebron, Barton talks a lot about their unborn child, even saying that she didn't want to have it in jail.

In one to Ebron, dated last October, Barton seems upset over something he may have told police, saying, "If you want us to have your last name then make us want it! I don't want to have our baby in prison."

In the letter, she goes on to say, "We need to stick together, Ruben. I'm doing everything you said. You hold up your end. Stop playing with me and the life of our child."

In another letter sent to someone, Barton talks about seeing Ebron in court, saying, "He says he wants the baby to have his last name."

She says, "I hope my charges are dropped here."

Based on the discovery documents, Ebron apparently never wrote Barton back, but Barton did receive a letter from her older son. The boy tells his mother, "I really love and miss you." He goes on saying, "Hope to see you very soon. You are in all of my prayers."

He also sent her a stick-figure drawing of the two of them.

At Barton's sentencing hearing in March, her lawyer said that she had her tubes tied after having Lonzie.

Barton's defense attorney, Gregory Hill of the Office of Criminal Conflict, told News4Jax he could not comment on the jailhouse audio or letters due to attorney-client privilege.

Barton is currently in prison, serving a 12-year sentence for charges of child neglect and lying to police.

Ebron is serving a 20-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to aggravated manslaughter and other charges in Lonzie's death.

Poems, letters written by Lonzie's mother released

(April 27, 2016)Documents released by the State Attorney's Office reveal poems and love letters written by Lonna Lauramore Barton while she was in jail.

The documents also reveal Lauramore Barton had a court ordered pregnancy test while in jail.
    at American Legion Post

"Our life can only get better. This is a minor setback for a major comeback," she wrote in one letter to Ruben Ebron, who was convicted of manslaughter in her son Lonzie's death.

Lauramore Barton wrote not only love letters to Ebron, but also a letter that accused him of lying about her to police.

In one letter she said she didn't want to have their baby in prison.

"Stop all the lies," Lauramore Barton said. "We are plus 1 now. My soon-to-be husband."

Lauramore Barton also wrote song lyrics, including verses from Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud" and "All of Me" by John Legend.

There also appears to be a handwritten poem from Lauramore Barton where she writes, in part: "One day this game will be over and I'll still be gone to live with the Lord. I'll wait for you forever more."

In another jail letter, Lauramore Barton said she plans to write a book.

"I plan to write a book of my life, mainly because I want the world to one day know my true feelings and my story," Lauramore*Barton wrote.
