I'm a bit ambivilent about mydeathspace.com

Mydeathspace conjures up mixed feelings for me. Inasmuch as it does this-is contentious and provokes debate-I think it's a good thing-anything that makes people think is a good thing. Ethics is never a straightforward matter, and morality is very subjective. Yes you could argue that these pages are a tribute, and it is certainly gauling to hear about all of this tragedy, and it put things in perspective. I do wonder however-is anyone that runs this site related to or a good friend of any of the people on here? It's only from that position that they could possibly judge whether it is right or wrong I think. Ultimately, I suppose the answer lies in what motivated the person to set this site up really, if they are truely honest with themselves. I will be the first to confess that what drew me to the site initially was morbid interest-just the same as many others I suspect-and to me that doesn't feel like a wholly moral motivation.

I think Most everyone is interested in death manily because it is something we all have in common.
no matter what your background, heritage or religious beliefs, the one thing that joins us together is death

I just wanted to see how "horrible" this site was. Other than a few insensitive posts about some of deceased, I find nothing wrong with it. And even then, if I didn't want to see the insensitive remarks, I could just avoid reading that part of the forums.

That's a good thing to hear. I'm not sure why the idea of MDS pisses off some people. It's just public information layed out in a neat format. And discussion about said information.

I've seen some really evil sites and this isn't one of em.

Why is "morbid interest" not "wholly moral motivation?" Where does it say that morbid curiosity is immoral? Sounds like an idiosyncratic moral code to me.

I'm not trying to be mean.
