Woman in a box Sandra Sutton (46) and her son Zachary Sutton shot to death

Police surrounded a house Thursday looking for the ex-boyfriend of a woman found dead, along with her teenage son, less than a month after the man was charged for allegedly holding her captive in a wooden box for months in western Missouri.

Sandra Kay Sutton, 46, and her son, Zachary Wade Sutton, were found dead early Thursday in a relative's home in Clinton. Both victims appear to have been shot overnight while Sutton's relatives were at work, Clinton police Lt. Sonny Lynch said.

Police have been searching for her former boyfriend, James Barton Horn Jr., since he was charged earlier this month with kidnapping. Investigators allege he kept Sandra Sutton in a wooden box off-and-on for four months at the home they shared in Sedalia, about 45 miles northeast of Clinton.

Horn, a registered sex offender who served time in prison for a kidnapping and sexual attack, disappeared before police could arrest him in that case. Lynch said Horn is "absolutely" a suspect in the deaths.

Lynch said Sedalia police have surrounded a home where they believe Horn may be hiding, but that authorities have not made contact with anyone inside. The Sedalia school district canceled all outdoor activities and evacuated an alternative high school nearby.

Lynch warned that Horn was an "extremely dangerous, violent person," and that anyone providing him shelter could face charges if they were aware of the pending kidnapping charges.

Sutton told police in late April that Horn had threatened her in a car with a "tire jack" after an argument in January. When they returned home, he began building a wooden structure, and she had to help with its construction, according to a probable cause statement filed by Sedalia police.

Sutton was allowed to leave the box in the evenings when Barton returned home from work, according to court documents.

Police said the box was kept in a bedroom and contained a bucket full of urine and feces. The box, which investigators said was 100 inches long, 48 inches wide and 52 inches tall, also contained several layers of insulation, padding and sleeping bags, and a small air hole.

Horn served about three years prison in Tennessee in the early 1990s in connection with a kidnapping and sexual attack. Horn also pleaded guilty in 1997 in federal court in Mississippi to unlawfully kidnapping and abducting his estranged wife, records show. He was sentenced to 12 years and 11 months in prison, plus five years supervised release.

He was released in December 2011.

Lynch said Clinton authorities weren't aware that Sutton had moved to the area.

"As far as I can tell from checking, she has never even sought an order of protection against James Horn," Lynch said. He said authorities are "still investigating those types of issues."

The Pettis County prosecutor's office did not immediately return messages seeking information about the case.

I remember it - still haven't got around to seeing it. I'm hopeless with movies, I always end up reading a book at the same time, then I forget the mokvie's on & miss most of it.

Colleen Stan was the original "Girl In The Box" wasn't she? & I think her abductor was working from The Collector & The Story of S or P (or some fucking letter I can't remember because I haven't read the book for 25 yrs ETA Q? lol, I'm going to have to dig out my copy of "Girl In The Box" before I type out the whole alphabet).

Took me ages to find a copy of The Collector back then but so many weird serial killer types were referencing it as their inspiration that I just had to read it.

I just read the Wikipedia. The only reason the wife called the police after 7 years was because he wanted to have a baby with the girl in the box and she was jealous. So sick. Also she served no time in exchange for her testimony. Sigh

A few months ago a friend & I were at a bar we usually go to, we found out there was a fetish meeting upstairs & they invited us to go up. Being nosy bastards we went up, it was pretty tame, all talk, no action, but I remember them talking very enthusiastically about the Story of O.
    Highlights of the evening included:
A very elegant woman in her 50's asking my pal & I if we were Sub's or Dom's, us saying "hey, we're just nosy" to which she replied "I do both. A hard cock is a hard cock & I don't care how it gets there!".
To which all I could reply was " I admire your candour!"
And some guy who looked liked he should be steering submarines, whiping a rope off his waist & lassoing it round a girls wrist in one fluid motion.

I've never felt so vanilla in my life.

A massive manhunt for a "dangerous" Missouri fugitive suspected of killing his ex-girlfriend and her son after keeping her captive in a wooden crate ended Saturday in a deadly shootout with police, authorities said.

James Horn, 47, was shot dead in the Kearn Wildlife Area in Pettis County after being on the run for about three weeks, Henry County Sheriff Kent Oberkrom said.

Horn, a convicted sex offender, had fled after authorities charged him with murdering and kidnapping his former lover Sandra Sutton, who he held hostage inside a box on-and-off for four months.

Police said he shot the 47-year-old Sutton and her 17-year-old son Zachary Sutton to death inside a relative's Clinton, Mo. home.

This pisses me off so bad. Not only did he rape/kidnap ONCE.....but twice (3 times if you count Sandra) Why the hell was the dude walking free to begin with?

Horn had been in prison several times, including one stint in the early 1990s for kidnapping and raping an ex-girlfriend in Tennessee, according to The News & Observer of Raleigh, North Carolina. He also went to a federal prison in North Carolina for another kidnapping and rape in Mississippi, the paper reported.

In 2011, prosecutors in the second case argued Horn should not be released as scheduled because he was too dangerous. In a court order obtained by the newspaper, a judge wrote there was no clear proof that Horn had a mental impairment. So after almost 13 years in prison, he was released.http://www.wptv.com/news/national/sa...ths-found-dead

CLINTON, MO. - CBSNEWS - Police released photos Thursday of the wooden box that they say James B. Horn forced Sandra Sutton to live in for four months before the Missouri man eventually killed her, reports CBS affiliate KCTV.

The department said they had to partially dismantle the wooden box to remove it from Horn's home in Sedalia, Mo. after Sutton broke free on April 30.

After escaping captivity, Sutton received police protection, but gave up that protection and moved in at her brother and sister-in-law's home in Clinton, reports KCTV.

Horn, who had a lengthy history of kidnapping, torturing and raping women he was involved with, got into the home and fatally shot Sutton and her 17-year-old son, Zach, during the early morning hours of May 21.

Sandra Sutton and Horn met when they worked together at a Tyson Food Plant. Their relationship reportedly turned volatile in January and she said that he attacked her and forced her to help build the box.

Police say Horn locked Sutton inside the box whenever he left the house. The box was 100 inches long, 48 inches wide and 52 inches tall.

It contained a bucket of urine and feces along with layers of padding and sleeping bags and a small air hole. The photos show an alarm clock, a bottle of water, clothing, sleeping materials, Christmas lights and trash.
