According to his obit, he died from Locked-In Syndrome.

    https://rarediseases.org/rare-diseas...d-in-syndrome/

Locked-in syndrome is a rare neurological disorder in which there is complete paralysis of all voluntary muscles except for the ones that control the movements of the eyes. Individuals with locked-in syndrome are conscious and awake but have no ability to produce movements (outside of eye movement) or to speak (aphonia). Cognitive function is usually unaffected. Communication is possible through eye movements or blinking. Locked-in syndrome is caused by damage to the pons, a part of the brainstem that contains nerve fibers that relay information to other areas of the brain.

Wait, so it just happened and he died from it. Or is it like something occurs sometimes throughout their life and they can pull through it (like a seizure)? I legit have never heard of this before!

I'm not really sure either. From reading his FB page comments, I think it was a fast progression. He spent the last 6 weeks in hospice.

Tonya, Brandon always kept in touch with everyone in his life. He unfortunately passed away from Locked in Syndrome on Tuesday, March 30, in hospice. His sister and I are devastated with the events that occurred since February 16 when he collapsed and was rushed to Community Hospital East.

Locked in syndrome is horrific. You are acutely aware of everything around you, but unable to communicate with anything other than your eye movements. You can see, hear, smell everything going on, you just are unable to interact.
Don't like what I have to say? I respect that. Go fuck yourself.

Is it something someone has happen that they can snap out of, so to speak? I am really curious....like, had he known he had this syndrome because he's has "episodes" before? Is that a thing, or does it just happen one time and the person ends up dying?

This is what I was saying earlier. It's a nightmare situation. Some people live that way for a really long time.

It's an absolute nightmare. I recommend people watch the movie "Awakenings" starring Robin Williams. It's all about this disease.
