It may be nothing, but a passenger fell (suicide?) from a cruise ship.

This is reported to be a picture of her right before the wave swallowed her (daily mail's description not mine)
This story still gets to me for some reason.

The Pompeii Archaeological Park announced today that they have discovered a new victim of the 79 AD eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in southern Italy: a man who appears to have been crushed by a huge block from a wall.
According to the Pompeii archaeological superintendency, the skeleton was found at the intersection of two small roads in an area of the site undergoing new excavation. Based on an anthropologist's report and evidence in the photos released by the archaeological superintendency, the person was an adult male.
The sequence of events that led to this man's death are still being determined. Because the skeleton was found on top of lapilli -- which are basically droplets of lava that cool as they are ejected -- the archaeologists assume that this man survived an early phase of Vesuvius's eruption.
For one possible sequence of events, read David Bressan's account of the geology of the eruption.

In the interview linked above, the director general of Pompeii, Prof. Massimo Osanna, explains that the man might have suffered thermal shock from the volcanic eruption, but also that the block -- perhaps from the second floor of one of the house walls flanking the alley in which the man was found -- likely fell on his head, crushing him.
It will certainly be interesting to see what the archaeologists find when they remove the large stone block. Excavations at Pompeii are ongoing, with a well-preserved horse skeleton found just a few weeks ago and a child's skeleton found in the thermal baths, so the varying experiences of many different people and animals in the face of this catastrophic geological event are now coming to light faster than ever.

A 13 yr old boy in China travelled down a road, standing in a car with his upper body outside the vehicle's sun roof.
The people in the car behind him were familiar with the road & knew there was a low hanging sign coming up. As they recorded & discussed whether the boy & his driver were breaking any rules, they joked about what would happen when the boy's car reached the sign. They thought he was going to duck. He didn't
