Marcus Johnson (6) was shot to death

" A 6-year-old child was shot and killed in north St. Louis Wednesday night.

According to police, a family was leaving O'Fallon Park in a van when a car pulled up alongside and someone inside fired shots. Two children, ages 6 and 15, and an adult inside the van were hit. Police said someone inside the victims' car then fired back. After the shooting, the family then drove to the 5500 block of Genevieve and called police.

The 6-year-old victim, identified Thursday as Marcus Johnson, was taken to a hospital by an officer but later died. The other two victims were taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Authorities closed down West Florissant near O'Fallon Park and canvassed the neighborhood for the vehicle where the shots were fired from.
