Is that his mom or something?

This makes me sad, it seems like this was a pretty cool, creative kid with a strong parental support system.

the principal, i think. she refused to let him use the picture for his individual portrait, but decided to put the picture in the yearbook as long as he allowed her to join in with her dog.

for the record, i think it was a good compromise and a way to show humor to the students on behalf of the 'authorities'.

Yeah that sounds supportive to me.

Sounds like a lot of people appreciated this kid.

Am I the only one who thinks that he probably was inspired to do this photo because he had been contemplating suicide for a long time?

Maybe I'm wrong or maybe it's just a kind of dark sense of humour thing . . . but I'd definitely want this to be my last recorded photograph on earth.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Way to jump on someones coat tails.

Though her dogs face is awesome.

I think it's pretty common for someone who suffers from depression to have an awesome sense of humor. it's a way for them to exercise better emotions. Case in point: Robin Williams.

Yeah, I agree. I mean by that we could basically just assume that everything clever he ever did was in preparation to die.

I dunno. I can kind of get the angle. Maybe thinking about suicide didn't inspire him to do this, but I can see him doing this because he was suicidal.

I'll have to do some digging, but I could have swore I've read about people who intentionally do crazy/weird things to try to battle heavy depression or suicidal thoughts. Like, going to the extreme opposite.

Could it have been manic related? I know, on bipolar upswings, my ex did, and said, some of the craziest things. He was unstoppable with creativity and ideas.

Yeah it's just like a really strong need for attention, to fill the void that depression causes.

Yeah, I can see that point. When you look at the whole context, I can kinda see what you guys are saying.

I feel bad for my cat, at times. He'll be sleeping and do that cute little "look at me smooshing my face with my paws like I'm playing peekaboo" move, and then I can't help but to pick him up and squish him to my chest.

It's a wonder he gets any sleep at all.
