Two months ago, 21-year-old Drake Kramer told his parents he was taking a solo trip to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. He hasn't been seen since.
"He loved being outdoors," Drake's father, Robbin Kramer, said. Robbin and his wife, Brenda, live in San Antonio.
"I think that he may have decided to go out and be out in nature," said Robbin. "He needed to be with Mother Earth and he needed to set his soul free. He said he would be at the Grand Canyon and that if we were to find his body, to bury him without a casket."
Drake communicated that to his dad via text message in late January. The Grand Canyon National Park launched a search and rescue mission, scouring 285 miles of the South Rim.
"It's been very hard not knowing where my son is," Robbin said.
Three weeks ago, the family received word that someone spotted Drake. Another search and rescue was launched but crews found nothing. The hardest part for Drake's parents is not knowing what happened.
"He's out there somewhere," said Brenda. "I just want him to come home and know that he's okay."
