I remember when TheQuxxn died. I didn't know her, or watch any of her videos. I am a Sims game collector, and was browsing a message board that mentioned her. The sad part...she died after having weight loss surgery. Her online persona was that of a skinny White blond woman, or sometimes brunette, and in reality she was a large Black woman. She was chosen to attend an official Sims event at EA, which prompted her to try to get skinny fast. As an overweight Black woman, who has never presented myself as anything less, I understood her pain. In the early days of the internet it was very hard being the only Black person, especially a woman. While I couldn't have hid my identity, I'm really not good at lying, I understood. Of course, everything came out after she died, and the Sims community was very upset at being duped. Although, to my knowledge, all she ever received were YouTube views and subscribers.
RIP Venishia Peoples may you live and Sim in peace.
