More than 750 people turned out for a fundraiser Sunday for a Macomb County teen who died of complications of the flu.

Armada High school sophomore Danielle Borucki, 15, died Dec. 29 at Children's Hospital in Detroit due to complications from the virus and pneumonia.

The benefit breakfast, sponsored by Armada Project Care, planned by her family and friends and held at Creek Center Banquet Hall, was to help her family cover the costs of her funeral.

Armada High School Principal Laurie Wilson said she was happy with the turnout from the community, not just those with students at the high school and not just those people who know the Borucki family.

"The whole community has really come out to support the family. It's what I call 'the Armada advantage' ? the community," Wilson said Sunday.

Donations to the Borucki family can also be made to gofundme.com/jj7ehg.

Danielle was one of a set of triplets born to Michael and Eileen Borucki, according to an obituary by Hauss Funeral Homes.

Danielle was enrolled in honor courses at her high school, where she played viola in the school orchestra. Danielle enjoyed watching movies with Johnny Depp or Jack Nicholson and the "Breaking Bad" series. She also liked bowling and reading.

She is also survived by siblings Erika, Alex and Kaitlyn; nephew Zachary Borucki; and grandmothers Marie Borucki and Carolyn McGregor. Danielle was predeceased by grandfathers Robert Borucki and Richard McGregor.

A funeral Mass will at be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Mystical Rose Catholic Church, 24040 Armada Ridge Road, Armada.
