Talk about guilt!!!! I cant imagne how her family feels now. God these suicide kids are getting younger and younger. Its amazing to think that parents that could really turn their backs on there kid for being gay but I have a feeling there is more behind her suicide.

Taylor Jo Doherty (14) shot herself after being outted for being bisexual

    http://mydeathspace.com/article/2007...e_was_bisexual

I remember searching for her cause of death. This one really broke my heart.

The day she did it, she text messaged her best friend to come meet her and their spot in the woods. Her bff found her there, dead from a shotgun blow to the face.

On a sidenote, I wonder if Bowflex would call her a faggot.

I thought that being bi was the new "it" thing to be. I can't imagine shunning my child for something as minor as that. The parents, I'm sure, were only thinking about how it would reflect on them, not their child.

Yup, drugs will do many things. No need to close yourself off from the past. Though, you might want to shudder at the thought of your past practices.

I still think there's more to the story regarding how her parents responded to her statement about being bi.

what kind of parent are you if you kick a 14yr old CHILD out of the house!?!?! where did they think that she was gonna go..? even if i was to a friend's house, what would that parent think of them kicking her out of the house.

this is a case of horrible parenting and i have even read the article about it.

this kind of shit pisses me off. how any parent can turn their back on their child because they may be gay is beyond me. i have a close friend that is about as homophobic as a person can be. her son however is gay. everyone EXCEPT for my friend knows this and it's because she has always responded to the rumors by saying she would disown him if he were gay. i wanted to pound her in her face. i just don't understand it. rip taylor jo

She was a beautiful young girl.
I would have loved her if she was gay/straight whatever.
Haven't her parents been told that you love your child no matter what??
That is something that parents should not have to be told. People such as the Dohertys make me sick. I know people who have disowned their children over their sexuality or for dating someone of another race. With all the violence in the world I can't understand why people get upset over someone actually loving another person.

this one really pissess me off. you don't kick children out of your house, period. and to kick a child out over her sexuallity is just evil. good ol christian morals, death is better than homosexuality i guess. but then they blather on about how she's looking down on everyone from heaven, um sorry according to your homosexual hatin, free love hatin scriptures suicide is actually the unforgivable sin.

"I can only imagine how Taylor's parents must be feeling right now. I wish them peace, and I hope they will one day be able to overcome their guilt AND learn to be more accepting of people, especially their own children."

I'm with you Shiki, I hope they're tormented every day of their lives over their daughter. They should have never been allowed to breed if they couldn't love their children unconditionally.

A lot of Christians love and accept everyone, even if they are gay. It is the narrow minded ones that interpret a few select passages and use them as their tool to spew hate and intolerance.
well my brother is whiter then white and he married a dark skin girl. Well my father was racist (He has been dead for almost 10 years) so I am sure he is rolling in his grave because of this.
But I love my brothers wife. She is the sweetest lady and gave me beautiful twin niece and nephew.
I was raised with a racist but I believe as you do about how can you get upset over someone actually loving another person.
My brother is in love and that is all that counts to me. I really don't care that she is black, she is human and wonderful and my brother loves her dearly.

So again if my child is gay or marries someone of another race I would not disown them or kick them out of the house.

Love is love in my book no matter sex or race.

Did I just make any sense??

WOW. Their headlines have all changed to extremely depressing ones since we were first trying to find her COD a few weeks ago.

Re: Taylor Jo Doherty (14) shot herself after she told her parents she was bi

Uh, isn't being "bi" usually a passing phase that adolescent girls go through in order to prove themself cool and sexy amongst their peers? Did her parents not get the memo that her bisexuality was likely a passing fad? And even if it WASN'T a passing fad, did they not get the memo that parents are supposed to love and accept their children? Are they that homophobic? Or worried about appearances? I wonder what their God thinks of a family that shuns their child over something so trivial.

How did such judgemental parents raise such a beautiful, accepting daughter? From all the comments, it seems tons of people loved her, and accepted her. It is them that I will pray for, they will need so much help in the coming days.

I am wondering if this is her "girlfriend" - I hope she is getting the support she needs
