So apparently that thread may actually be significant, they just weren't certain. It was bagged & sent for testing

It's discussed in the vid posted in this tweet

    https://twitter.com/theprojecttv/sta...F5xtY3tmA&s=19

The spot where the thread was found had ground penetrating radar put over it earlier today. They flagged things on the ground & also brought in a cadaver dog. Late in the afternoon they started raising a tarp over the area.

In the vid posted in that tweet it looks like the tarp might be amongst the trees in the background as the reporter says

"police firmly believe that this, behind me, is the final resting place of that little 3 year old boy, William Tyrrell, who went missing ..."

These pix were taken in the afternoon when the tarp was brought out

    Edit :

    Deleted.

I noticed something that was referenced in the thread years ago but didn't seem important at the time. I'll post it again if I'm ever 100% certain it doesn't have the potential to fuck up a prosecution. It probably doesn't, but I'm not a lawyer so I don't want to take that chance

So they're still awaiting the results of forensic testing on the threads of red fabric & now they've sent an 8cm x 8cm piece of faded blue fabric to Sydney for testing too

The area they're currently searching is a small creek that runs through a concrete culvert & goes under Batar Creek Rd, where the foster mother said she pulled over to search for William before her husband returned home

The area has flooded twice since William disappeared, including the major floods earlier this year, so even if they're searching in the right place now everything would've been moved by the flood waters & it's probably going to take weeks for them to find any evidence that's still there

Piece of blue cloth sent to forensics from William Tyrrell creek search site

STRIKE Force Rosann will continue the search for the remains of missing boy William Tyrrell over the weekend following the discovery of a potential piece of evidence on Friday (November 19) morning.

The potential piece of evidence was found at the search site at Cobb and Co Rd/Batar Creek Rd at Kendall in the vicinity of the creek, a NSW Police spokesperson said.

The piece of light blue cloth measuring around 8cm by 8cm has been sent away for forensic analysis to the Forensic and Analytical Science Service (FASS) in Sydney.

Test results from FASS can take up to three or four businesses days, with detectives still awaiting forensic results from further potential evidence found in soil at the same search site earlier this week.

Police were also assisted by NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) volunteers in draining the creek at the search site on Friday morning.

RFS volunteers also continue to support police in clearing trees and thick bush at the search site.

The operational support group sifting through the soil is predominately made up of officers from the Public Order Riot Squad.

Search continues: NSW RFS volunteers assisted police in draining he creek on Friday morning.

There are also eight crime scene investigators on site as well as one hydrologist, one archaeologist and an anthropologist who are assisting police in the search, a NSW Police spokesperson said.

There is some concern that predictions for wet weather and storms over the weekend could hinder search efforts.

"The plan at this stage is for the search to continue regardless of the weather," a NSW Police spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, a concrete slab in the garage of the former home of William's foster grandmother that was scanned with ground penetrating radar technology has been deemed clear.

On Thursday, the Australian Federal Police used the specialist subterranean equipment to determine if there were any disturbances or anomalies in the soil underneath the garage.

On Friday morning police confirmed results from the slab had not furthered the investigation.

Police: Protective coverings have been placed over the site where potential evidence was found earlier in the week.

Strike Force Rosann has spent the past five days meticulously searching at three specific locations near Kendall, with a focus on the home on Benaroon Drive where William was last seen playing and a patch of bushland one kilometre away.

A NSW Police spokesperson said strike force investigators are expected to remain in the area for three weeks, with the search site at Cobb and Co Rd/Batar Creek Rd expected to expand to bushland on the opposite side of the road in the coming weeks.

Wonder what the measurements are on those blue squares at the top of the pant legs ...

(Also, just realised that we're getting saturation coverage of the searches at the house & this site on Batar Creek Rd but nothing at all from the third site, which makes me wonder if one area's suspected as a body disposal site & the other is suspected as a dump site for clothes/shoes)

Edit : ignore that last bit, according to the vid at this link they're doing this site first, then moving across the road & doing the area where the creek comes out the other side. Then they're moving to another site 600m down the road towards Benaroon Dr

Not sure if they actually mean there are new leads, or if they're referring to the ones that prompted this search.

The reporting on this case is really bad & inaccurate. Most of the inaccuracies up until now have greatly benefited the foster parents, & it's still happening

?Fresh leads? and more evidence in William Tyrrell search

Police on the search ground last week. They found more potential evidence on Tuesday. Photo: AAP

Police searching for the remains of William Tyrrell have reportedly discovered another piece of potential evidence ? this time in an area they are yet to search.

Crews from the NSW RFS reportedly discovered another piece of fabric as they worked ahead of the main search team at Kendall, on the NSW mid-north coast on Tuesday, clearing bushland for a more detailed search.

It came on the eighth day of the search for William, who vanished from a property at Kendall in September 2014.

Network 10 reported Tuesday afternoon?s discovery of a piece of fabric found in the mud next to a creek bed.

Forensic archaeologist Tony Lowe and a police officer were seen photographing the item ? a small piece of black cloth. It was then put into an evidence bag.

It is the 11th piece of material investigators have taken away for testing since the search began on Monday last week ? and came after police confirmed yesterday they had also removed 15 tonnes of soil for testing.

On Tuesday, NSW Police Minister David Elliott told the Seven Network?s Sunrise that investigators wouldn?t be back in Kendall unless they thought there was something there that could help with the investigation.

?They wouldn?t be there unless they thought there were new and fresh leads,? he said.

?I think that is the expectation for the people of NSW, and for Australia, that police go to the nth degree and they don?t stop until they know that every opportunity of finding evidence is exhausted.?

He said police understood any evidence they found would have to be considered ?through the prism of time? ? the seven years since William disappeared from his foster grandmother?s home.

?As far as the commission is concerned in the conversations I have had with those on the ground, they are not going to stop and they will make sure that when they go to bed at night they are confident that they have done everything that is humanly possible,? he said.

In other developments in the case on Tuesday, assault charges against William?s foster parents were mentioned in a Sydney court.

The foster mother, 56, and foster father, 54, each face one count of common assault, alleged to have occurred at a home on Sydney?s upper north shore this year.

The charges do not relate to William.

The couple were not required to appear at Hornsby Local Court, which was told police served a ?mini-brief? of evidence on Monday.

?I?ve not had a chance to give it to my client,? lawyer Sharon Ramsden said.

The identities of the foster parents and the child subject of the charge cannot be revealed for legal reasons.

The court delayed Tuesday?s brief mention due to substantial media attention.

Magistrate Robyn Denes said she understood the interest in the case but questioned the true desire to mention the defendants? connection to William.

Aside from that link, the matter was not dissimilar to matters heard in every court in NSW, she said, saying media weren?t in her court last week for a case involving ?far more serious allegation? and a five-year-old.

?What?s the interest besides, dare I say it, the clickbait issue?? she said.

Told the foster parents hadn?t been identified in reporting as per long-running court orders, Ms Denes said: ?There were cameras at their house so the neighbours know.?

Ms Ramsden forecast she might apply to have the court closed for future hearings.

Ms Denes said she hoped the matter would progress ordinarily in her list, like 90 other AVO and 75 charge matters she heard on Tuesday.

The matter was adjourned until December 7 for pleas to be entered.

The foster parents are excused from appearing on that day if legally represented.

I wonder what tip they received to be searching in three such (seemingly) random places in the woods. I hope this isn't a psychic dream or something.

Omfg. In the thread at WS they're going over her orig police statement, which apparently has no mention whatsoever of her trip to Batar Creek Rd in her mum's car.

They've worked out that she didn't tell them about leaving in the car until 6 days later when she did her police walkthrough. That's also when she told that weird story about the truck driver.

One of the WS posters wondered if she might've done that because she was worried the truck driver might come forward

William went missing on 12 Sept 2014

The date on my post below, where I mentioned comments I saw on the police fb page about a truck driver who saw a woman acting suspiciously the day he went missing, & rang 000 to report her but was dismissed by police - 18 Sept 2014

He looks a lot chubbier & younger in the bruise pic. & he looks clean, happy & very well cared for in all the others, so I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt. My son was totally not a rough & tumble kid & ended up with a black eye & stitches at 3 (tripped on a rug & went face first into a huge teak wall unit on our way out the door to preschool) so it can happen right in front of you no matter how well you supervise.

It's a bit of a worry seeing comments that the sniffer dogs didn't get called in until day 4 (monday) & it was only people posting in the threads that hunted down Barry Port's ph no & then found a group of NSW trackers when they found out Barry was away until wednesday (& he's from 1000's of kms away anyhow) so they couldn't have been there til Tues or Wed at the earliest - after 300 adults in "strong footwear" had already been stomping for 5 days all over any possible signs left by a little 3 yr old.

There was a comment that someone talked to an interstate truck driver at a servo who said he saw "a large woman acting suspiciously" by a car on the side of the road the first day. He reckoned he called 000 but they weren't interested because they were sure William just wandered off. I hope the guy's not in W.A or something now with no idea that now they do want reports of suspicious activity.

The guy asking for directions is definitely weird. If he visited someone in the street surely they'd have spoken up by now. The only other legitimate reason he could have for needing directions to William's nana's exact street is if there's a public entry to Kendall State Forest in the street. Otherwise you have to wonder if this was planned by someone with prior knowledge that William would be at his grandmother's address

    ETA found the mum's post

Doesn't actually say it happened at daycare, just that the photo was taken there. It also says it's weeks old when I thought it must be much older, so ignore half of what I said up top.

ETA for anyone just reading now, the claim that sniffer dogs took 4 days to be called in was also complete & utter bullshit. They were there within 3 - 4 hrs & lost his scent at the front gate.

It's been 7 years too long for William. Incredible and unfotunate investigation oversights. I hope justice will be served for William
