    Documentaries worth watching

Sorry if there is already a thread on this but I LOVE documentaries...especially crime and mental illness documentaries (imagine that!) I know plenty have been discussed in the movie thread as well as the "most disturbing movie you've ever seen" thread and to list those I've seen discussed would be a good place to start. Please add anything cool you've seen

Discussed so far that I've seen:
    Dear Zachary
There's something wrong with Aunt Diane
    Blackfish
    Dern...can't remember more

Documentaries that I've seen recently that are worth watching if you're in to horrific stuff:
    Just Melvin, Just Evil
Forgotten (abandoned) children of Bulgaria...Romania...Ukraine. Take your pick
Dancing Outlaw...not horrific so much..but damn funny!
A Boys Life (not to be confused with This Boy's Life...an early Leonardo DiCaprio film that's also good)
    Children of Darkness
    Child of Rage
    Jesus Camp (meh..kinda bored throughout)

and I'm now drawing a blank...but currently watching The Darlene Chronicles.

    So...any suggestions?

There's Something Wrong With Aunt Diane...Is that the one with the lady that had accident that killed herself and all the little kids in the car?

The Darlene chronicles are fucking cray cray. On youtube. If the storyline doesn't flick your wtf meter, Darlene's beard at age 50 will!

    Ufff. Dear Zachary.
    Right in the feels.
There's Something Wrong with Aunt Diane was interesting.
I love documentaries so please recommend more! Especially now that I am...underemployed.

Here's an awesome list of the top 100 documentaries on Rotten Tomatoes:
    http://www.rottentomatoes.com/top/be...es/?category=8

Man on Wire (#1) is awesome. It's about a precious, loony little Frenchman obsessed with tightrope walking

The King of Kong (#65) is about two guys competing to be the best video gamer ever. Hilarious.

Murderball (#5) is about bad ass paraplegics who play rugby.

I also like The Bridge, about suicides and the Golden Gate bridge. Sad sad sad. I was surprised it wasn't on the list.

I'm very partial to documentaries, I've seen a ton.

Here's a list of my recommendations:

-Madonna of the mills (this may be too upsetting for some people; it's about puppy mills)
-The Lottery (about the public education system)
    -Paradise Lost 1,2 & 3;West of Memphis
    -Search for the Mothman

The town that the football guy does school in, Paintsville, is one of the towns we go shopping in when we visit my grandparents in Kentucky. This doc rustled a lot of jimmies when it first aired, lots of people took offense to comments made about the lack of teeth in the area, I guess.

    "The Staircase."

"A Boy's Life" ripped my heart out. I hope that little boy turned out okay, but I don't see how he would have.

I hope this is the name, but "The wild and wonderful whites of West Virginia" is the documentary that left me speechless. I watched it on Netflix. It was produced by the guy from JackASS, but it was amazing.

i did a long time ago. i thought it was good, but honestly, the only thing i remember is the tap-dancing hillbilly and the baby getting taken away. i think one guy shot his uncle or something too.

maybe it's time for a rewatch.

Has anyone here seen the below documentary?

    "Tim's Vermeer".

I watched it this weekend. Not sure if anyone has mentioned it before but I loved it.

    Wow, that looks fascinating.

Also, I watched this on Netflix last week. Hadn't heard of it before.

Since 2007, dozens of young people have been found hanged in Bridgend, a town in southern Wales. Many of them knew one another-they were friends, neighbors, and family. The striking similarities between their deaths have confounded authorities and struck fear into the hearts of parents. Headlines splashed across the UK earned Bridgend its infamous nickname: "Death Town."

Ooooh! That sounds interesting! I'll check that out tomorrow. I'm always listening to documentaries when I'm at the office. This may very well be the best thread I've found yet on here!

The White's of West Virginia. I loved the documentary and there is also a movie, White Lightnin'.

I love documentaries. Grizzly man was on Sundance yesterday. Actually, it's on quite a lot.

Last Days Here, about Bobby Liebling is very good.

Searching for Sugar Man, Sixto Rodriguez. Awesome.

The one about Melvin creeped me out. The Bridge was very sad. I need to watch the one about Zachary.

Oh Something's wrong with Aunt Diane left me puzzled. I still think that it was a last minute suicide.
