Maybe the family preferred to keep his death somewhat low profile because it was a suicide. Some families find it shameful. Or have a harder time accepting it when it's a suicide. Advertising his death may make them feel like others will think they did something wrong or didn't do enough. Even though most people know that isn't true with suicides, the family may be blaming themselves and ignorance is bliss.
