However, police identify persons of interest

    Aaron Preston
It may be two to four weeks before the Tarrant County Medical Examiner rules on the cause of death of a man discovered Sept. 10 in a residence on Eastern Street, according to Keene Police Chief Rocky Alberti.

The cause of death is "pending toxicology and investigation," the Tarrant County ME's website said.

The Keene police investigation has turned up several persons of interest in the death of Aaron Alexander Preston, 22, of Keene. These persons may have information about the case or are known to have been with the vicitm before his death, Alberti said.

These people have been interviewed. No arrests have been made at this time, Alberti said.

"The investigation is ongoing, with a significant amount of manpower from the Keene Police Department dedicated to this case," Alberti said. "Investigators from the District Attorney's Office and the Cleburne Police Department have also been assisting throughout the investigation."

The situation began at about 10:59 p.m. Tuesday, when Keene Police Sgt. Chip Krieger and Officer Cody Moss responded to a call of a deceased person in the 100 block of S. Eastern St. in Keene, Alberti said.

Keene EMS also responded to the scene. Officers made entry into the residence and found a deceased white male, later identified as Preston, Alberti said.

Preston was a senior at Southwestern Adventist University majoring in biology and chemistry, but was not currently enrolled, university officials said.

Investigators on the scene believed the death to be of a suspicious nature and called for a crime scene unit from the Metroplex, Alberti said.

The investigation is ongoing at this time, the chief said.

Updates to this story will be made as further information becomes available.

The official results have been published by the coroner.

    Manner Of Death: UNDETERMINED
Cause Of Death: EXSANGUINATION DUE TO SHARP FORCE INJURY OF EAR

    Article from 11/13:

KEENE — Nearly two months after a 22-year-old man was mysteriously found dead inside his family home, there are still far more questions than answers surrounding what happened.
On September 10, a family friend of Aaron Preston found his body near the kitchen table of his house.
Preston's mom, Lynne, was away on business.
But now the mother is asking increasingly critical questions about the death. "The numbness is gone, but I feel like Aaron has no one to stand up for him," she told News 8.
When Keene police first starting investigating, the death was deemed suspicious.
Lynne Preston said that when she recently met with detectives — close to 60 days after her Aaron died — she was told that acquaintances of her son were around the property before, and possibly after, his death.
"We knew there were people in the house, we do know that, and we know who," she said.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner recently ruled that Preston's cause of death was loss of blood "...due to sharp force injury of ear." But it listed the manner of death as "undetermined."
Lynne said answers from police have been few and far between, leading to more questions.
"Was it an accident? Did someone cause those wounds?" she asked.
    Police have made no arrests.
    An updated police statement was provided to News 8 on Wednesday afternoon, reading in part;
"Based on the evidence, witness statements, involved persons statements, and other facts in the investigation ... there is insufficient evidence to file any criminal charges at this time. The Keene Police Department has put hundreds of man hours into this investigation."
Preston liked to play guitar for fun, and was a bright college student studying science, according to Lynne.
A full report from the medical examiner is expected sometime before the end of the year.
It is believed that Preston may have actually died a few days prior to his body being discovered.
Lynne Preston said at least one key person interviewed in connection to the case has relocated out of the country.

    Right?

I know from the facebook RIP page above- a reporter keeps trying to join the group but the group blocked him. Aaron's mom wants everybody to remain quite so the investigation will not get messed up any more than it already is.

    Here is what she wrote
Thank you. Please do not talk to anyone. I do not want to jepardize the police investigation in any way. There are already too many rumors and talk going around and it is just all confusing. I do appreciate all the kind things said about Aaron and know that those of you who are his true friends would only say what you knew of Aaron and the good about him. We have all had our rough patches and Aaron and I have certainly had ours. Thank you again. Please help by keeping rumors down.
