Police said that the family is not suspected in the murder of the 6-year-old girl. In fact, the Saginaw Police Department does not have any suspects at this time. Yet, police spokesman Officer Damon Ing said that authorities believe this is an isolated case. ?I can assure the community of Saginaw and all surrounding communities that you are perfectly safe in this community,? Ing said.
Saginaw resident Angelica Castro questioned how police could assure her family?s safety while no suspects have been named. ?It?s not adding up to what they are saying,? she said. ?Something is not right.?
The FBI spent much of Tuesday searching the Gallagher home, located less than two miles away from where the 6-year-old?s body was found.
An evidence receipt list was left in clear sight, inside of a car parked in front of the Gallagher home on Wednesday afternoon. It showed that police collected a blue-gray tarp, electrical tape and plastic Walmart bags from the car. Detectives also removed dozens of items from the Gallagher home on Tuesday.
The 6-year-old girl?s body was found by two teenage boys on Monday evening. She was naked and had been wrapped in a tarp, her hands and feet bound and her head covered in a plastic shopping bag. According to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner, she died shortly before being found by the teens. She had just celebrated a birthday on June 12, less than three weeks before her death.
