Happy anniversary MDS! One year ago today!
Can't believe it's been a year. And yes, others will come back, they always do.
Wasn't it ruled no cameras in the courtroom - or was it only one stationary camera? Something like that. But now Martinez has a motion in for cameras again given that the Defense fed AZ Central information. I can't remember all the shenanigans of the last year! Regardless - I can't wait for Berm's blog to be back
Don't know if the Defense will acknowledge her BPD, their whole defense prior was PTSD. Acknowledging BPD could open a can of worms for them.
I'm interested to see the "mini-trial" that will be done to synopsis the criminal trial so the sentencing Jury has all the information to make an informed decision. I also wonder if Stephen and Samantha will read their impact statements again, or if others will do it (too.) The Alexander family are strong, that's for certain.
I haven't heard anything since Martinez filed that motion, but I have a feeling JSS will not allow cameras. I am so curious too about how this whole sentencing retrial works. I guarantee the Alexander family will be there reading their statements again. IMO, if she gets life, JSS will give her natural life. She knows all about the forged pedophile/abuse letters and has had a lot of interaction with the skank. She may have bent over backwards for the Defense, but I don't think she's stupid.
I know this is JSS' first DP trial, and I do think she's been a bit too lenient on some things, but I think she's been smart to let some things go as in my opinion she sees the big picture. I don't think she's worried about a trial of her's being overturned on appeal, I think she's considering this specific case tying up more time and money if it gets overturned on an appeal.
As for the cameras, I think the defense team left themselves wide open on the camera/media issue when they handed stuff over to AZ Central. It flew right in the face of their entire "fair trial" line of defense, so they may be out of luck there. It'll be interesting to see what happens with the motion Martinez filed.
M Joy - I can't find the article or link that was posted with the motion information in it. I'm pretty sure Schpadoinkle posted it though, they've been pretty good about posting updates and articles.
Glad to see you all! As far as cameras being allowed. It will be the same setup as last year, except it WILL NOT be a live feed. There will be still photography and apparently one CNN reporter allowed to do their *reporting*. ( ) Jury selection Begins Sept 8th and who knows how long the retrial will last? I would estimate perhaps 2 months? I inquired if anyone knew about the subpoena that was filed that got some buzz on Twitter and State vs Jodi Facebook pages. I think even though it seems like Judge Sherry is running a mill of inefficiency, she is making sure there is as little opportunity for Jodi and her DT's fuckery to have it's desired effects, mainly to delay and distract. From what I have heard, Jodi WANTS the cameras in there, and the Judge and DT are actually doing something smart together by not giving her anymore limelight. I've been keeping up with the train wreck of other cases that have been coming up lately and the media trying to shove down our throats, and I swear they all compare each case to Jodi's at least once or twice. This ain't over, not by a longshot.
Wow.... I didn't know I was popular, let alone wanted. Thank you all. This was the only thread that got me in an active dialogue. I guess I nested and never thought to explore. You might see me in other threads now.
But this particular subject gives me so many credible people to truly despise! Greasy Gus, Matt Rat, and of course the star of the shit show, Jodi. I've had some private commentary about the Dunn case, Devault, Pistorious and now the Scheneker trials. It's like the Jodi trial was the prototype for this new legal viewing format. It's a brave new world!
I vaguely recall an estimate of 6 weeks for tge summary trial. It's probably for tge best it's not kive streamed, lord knows tgere could be anotger ibcident like tge Skype snafu during tge Zimmerman trial.
Yeah this case certainly had a cast of characters, but other cases (that don't get the HLN treatment) can be as if not more interesting. The old man killing the kids was twisted and interesting, Grace did an hour special on it but there's been good discussion here.
Take a look around * you pop up with good info so I can only imagine you'd do the same for other cases that pique your interest:). Don't forget to not only check all the death thread areas, but also current events & weird & bizarre - stuff comes up there frequently.
Look forward to seeing ya in other threads:)
Our salmon loving friend at Wild about Trials promised to be there tweeting as he/she did last year. I hope it will be allowed.
The Justice for Travis Alexander FB page is still fiving updates on the JA case https://www.facebook.com/Justice4TravisAlexander and they supposedly know the Alexanders.
The other FB page, State vs. JA, is gossiping about other big cases.
I believe there was a restriction put in place prohibiting future campers of the gallery from using electronic devices and social media. Hope your friend can sneak out and Tweet progress between breaks and you can keep us updated!
I am certainly more drawn towards the weird and bizarre rather than the death blood and gore side of things. I am more of a why and how kind rather than a what and where kind. When the Dunn trial was happening, I was more sad and angry that a young man was robbed of his life over bigotry. I'm sure some of my personal and political views wouldn't fly smoothly in some threads where they would boil over and spill out. But then when the Scheneker case first broke, and she was shown on HLN being escorted out in her white paper jumper and booties, shaking like a drunk with the DT's, this is all I could think of....
There are a variety of views here, and it's very very rare - if ever (I know of no time bug have only been here a bit over a year so I'm still new) - that everyone in a thread will come down on the same side of the fence on a case or topic. Some may cause more passion and rapid posts, but really - as long as you're not a straight up douchecanoe and express your viewpoints intelligently (or at least with a clever meme) and are respectful of others you're golden. Based on your posts here, you're good. :)
If you're down for some reading I'm sure we can think up some good completed threads to give ya a good idea of things. As a newer poster that realllly helped me when i started branching out, because i had a better idea of what to expect from people and the way things tended to flow (ie if drama happened or a hot topic arose how it typically went dlwn.)
We could also get some current hot ones too. The main thing is to subscribe to a thread you're posting in so you don't lose it with the lame site glitch.
The old man in Missouri who shot to 2 teens is really a "why??" It's interesting, but dark too because there's a recording of the killings.
Oh yeah - Wild About Trial is a website/twitter that has multiple "reporters" who sit in on trials and report what happens. They don't (really) reveal their identity but some people know who is on what trial and if I recall correctly the WAT founders wrote a book about the Jodi trial.
