    Mindblowing / Mindfuck Things

What are the things you find amazing about the world? What's your biggest mindfuck?

I'll go first (no particular order):

The brain! We actually have a lot to learn about it. How people's characters are made, how they behave, how the brain can often heal itself, how substances affect it.

Dreams and their reflection on reality (or not).

    People surviving the 'unsurvivable'.

That I could die at any moment, or live for a really long time.

When "Columbia" disintegrated, some of Ilan Ramon's diary was recovered and was actually legible.

How big the world is and time zones - while I am here, x people are asleep, y people are being born. People are doing opposite stuff at the same time.

Coincidences and fate, if you will. Some good lists are here: http://listverse.com/2007/11/12/top-...-coincidences/, http://listverse.com/2009/07/14/10-m...-coincidences/, http://listverse.com/2008/02/20/anot...-coincidences/.

Someone on the UK version of "Life In A Day" said that he believed in God because only He would have created for discovery a system of science that would seem to disprove His own existence. Not religious, but that was amazing.

if you're a male, you had a father, he had a father and even he had a father, etc. if you don't have a son, you have just broken the 3+ BILLION year chain of males going back to the earliest signs of life when we were all just single cell amoebas.

There is a show on one of the cable channels about Earth without man, I find that fascinating! It's a total mindfuck how fast vegitation would take over. I mean not just my yard, they showed the city of Atlanta, it was dust in a blink of an eye.

Yeah...my husbands family ends with us. We have one child together and it's a girl. We had no more. He has 6 siblings who are all single, most never even had a date. Weird family. They belong to a very uptight religious group, with some ancient morals and ideas that don't fit well in the modern world. LOL...I didn't fit with them either. I think they may have accepted me better had I produced a son.

Everything requires constant maintenance that people don't typically see or think about. Bridges, tunnels, buildings, would all collapse without people.
