Oh man, it is really sad how many stories popped into my head upon reading the word 'Geese!' in the title... I'm thinking I spend way too much time with wild creatures, lol.

Used to have one come right up to the front door at work and I'd go out and feed him. He was never mean to me, but was to others.

Was driving home the other day and this huge corn field was covered from one end to the other with geese. There had to have been a couple thousand of them at least! Biggest down blanket I've ever seen. It actually kinda freaked me out, felt like they were preparing to take over the world or something.

    How I feel about geese....

My grandparents were staunch democrats and we had goose on the day of John F. Kennedy's funeral. They kept saying our goose was cooked now that LBJ was president. True story.

Does anyone else find it disturbing that they're the only birds with teeth? & not just any teeth either. They look like vicious little monster teeth - & all geese have them. Even the nice geese. They eat pretty much what ducks eat right? So what are they planning on using their evil little monster teeth for? Hmmmm? Don't trust 'em.

Do they really have teeth? Or just serrated bills?

I have no idea, I just found it, thought it was odd, then posted it. I don't even understand it.

Damn. A rational explanation. Knew there'd be one, just wasn't expecting it to be grass. Does anyone know if they mean grasses as in the lawn & paddock type or some sort of water plants - like is that what they're doing when they madly swish their bills in the water? also ta for letting me know ducks have scary teeth too. Does anyone know if black swans do? We have a lot near our place but they're generally angrier than geese so I'm not getting close enough to inspect them.

I would think it would be a generalization of grass-like aquatic vegetation but I don't know for sure. I don't have any black swan intel.

I have met only one black swan but didn't experience the teeth. The regular white swans do have a sharp bite like geese so I'm guessing the black ones are similar.

I don't mind them. We feed them at the local lake and they even land in my MILs pool, much to their dismay. They're pretty to look at and have never been mean little peckers to me or the kids, so.... Ohhhh but they can be loud!!
Don't like what I have to say? I respect that. Go fuck yourself.

Land grasses. But ducks and geese swish around water to filter out little bits of food that floats in the water.

I don't deal with geese that much, they scare the shit out of me when they honk or approach me. As a child, my dad took me to feed the ducks and I didn't know the difference, went up to a geese and it charged me, biting my hand. Never fed ducks again until a year ago and I was still scared of a random goose attacking me from behind.
    They are sneaky bastards.

    Seagulls are worse though.
