At my school, i went into the faculty room at 12:45 after my last class (its last lunch period) and almost the entire faculty was dumbfounded, watching the tv in absolutes silence. I couldn't even say anything, or ask any questionss, I just sat and watched the tv with them.
A bunch of us were brought to tears, putting ourselves in the place of those parents and educators. It's horrific.
I don't even understand the synapses that have to go off in the brain to lead someone to believe that THIS is a good idea.
Absolute evil.
I read an article which stated that a parent was in the office, having a meeting with administrators when there was popping sounds in the hallway. Three adults went out to check on the sounds and only one person made it back into the office.
Horrific.
Words cheapen the intense feelings that I have about this. 1010wins is reporting that there has not been a medical examiner on the scene in Hoboken, so there may not be a body in Hoboken
More conflicting reports.
So wait, the "Ryan Lanza" that tweeted that "he wouldnt be upset if the world ended in two weeks" on dec 2nd - was NOT the tweet of the actual killer? Because 2 weeks ago was dec 2nd.
enough. dear god enough. http://www.usnews.com/news/national/...hool-shootings
Ugh. CBS is saying its Adam Lanza and that he took his own life at the school. Fuck this bullshit. There is no satisfactory outcome for this situation but seriously fuck these assholes who kill others and then themselves. I hoped that the cops were able to end this sick fuck's life.
And Ryan Lanza is in custody, for what, they dont say.
6abc Action News
UPDATE: Gunman ID'd as Adam Lanza, 20. His older brother's name was previously released, but that was corrected.
Oh they just showed Ryan Lanza on CBS, bring lead away by police in Hoboken to be questioned.
Might he been one of the facebooks they were showing earlier? He looks like he may have been.
Does anyone know for sure what the NJ connection is? Do some of the family live there? Or they used to live there?

Twelve facts about guns and mass shootings in the United States
Posted by Ezra Klein on December 14, 2012 at 2:07 pm
When we first collected much of this data, it was after the Aurora, Colo. shootings, and the air was thick with calls to avoid “politicizing” the tragedy. That is code, essentially, for “don’t talk about reforming our gun control laws.”
Let’s be clear: That is a form of politicization. When political actors construct a political argument that threatens political consequences if other political actors pursue a certain political outcome, that is, almost by definition, a politicization of the issue. It’s just a form of politicization favoring those who prefer the status quo to stricter gun control laws.
Since then, there have been more horrible, high-profile shootings. Jovan Belcher, a linebacker for the Kansas City Chiefs, took his girlfriend’s life and then his own. In Oregon, Jacob Tyler Roberts entered a mall holding a semi-automatic rifle and yelling “I am the shooter.” And, in Connecticut, at least 27 are dead — including 18 children — after a man opened fire at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
If roads were collapsing all across the United States, killing dozens of drivers, we would surely see that as a moment to talk about what we could do to keep roads from collapsing. If terrorists were detonating bombs in port after port, you can be sure Congress would be working to upgrade the nation’s security measures. If a plague was ripping through communities, public-health officials would be working feverishly to contain it.
Only with gun violence do we respond to repeated tragedies by saying that mourning is acceptable but discussing how to prevent more tragedies is not. But that’s unacceptable. As others have observed, talking about how to stop mass shootings in the aftermath of a string of mass shootings isn’t “too soon.” It’s much too late.

I'm phone posting so I can't quote or haven't figured it out.
Snow, it seems that Ryan Lanza lives in Hoboken. Adam may or may not have been his roommate.
This looks very much like the person in the original facebook page.
beli : Cunt fingers. Just like butterfingers, only cuntier.
It's potentially not his brother, just some kid with the same name.
It does happen, you know.
Also btw a lot of dumbasses thought the Mayan prophecy thing was 12/12/12, which is probably why that kid said he didn't care if the world ended in two weeks.
and this is why i love npr. i was listening on my lunch and they haven't officially released the name of the shooter and they were saying the suspect, and mentioning that someone the suspect lived with was found dead in the home. reporting what they know and skipping over the speculation and having to apologize for misreporting. YAY! it was also not sensational. it didn't make me all panicky like this thread does (but i keep reading it).
What's crazy is that the guy with the same name was from the same place and lives in the same place and the same age.
