THE mother of a missing Cottesloe man has made a desperate plea for information as to the whereabouts of her son.

Samuel Carew-Reid, 21, was last seen at the Origins Health Farm in Balingup about 9pm on Saturday night.

Balingup is a small town in the South West, located about 240km south of Perth.

A talented musician, Samuel went to the health farm on Saturday afternoon and intended to stay there for a few days.

But he left the retreat in the evening in his silver Subaru Impreza, leaving most of his belongings behind, including his beloved guitar.

He has not been seen or heard from since and has not accessed his bank account.

Today, Samuel?s mother Sally-Ann Jones said many of her son?s mates and family had gone to the area to search for him.

?Sam is very, very thin and he is not used to being out in the bush. This will have been his third night out in the bush?I am worried he will be cold, hungry and thirsty,? Ms Jones said.

?This is really unusual for him not to be in contact with anybody this long.

?He has got a really great circle of friends, he has got a band and he is always with his mates.

?He is always in touch, always on Facebook, for him not to be in touch is just so unusual and so worrying.

?We are really worried about him.?

Ms Jones said her son came from a large and loving family with three older sisters and a younger brother desperately wanting to know where he is.

Police media spokesman Inspector Bill Munnee said it was out of character for Samuel to not keep in touch with his mates and family.

He said a significant amount of police resources were being allocated to look for him.

?It is out of character for him to disappear?it?s very important to us that we locate him as soon as possible,? Insp Munnee said.

Samuel is about 180cm tall with a very slim build and has long red hair, a red beard and green eyes. He has nicotine stained fingers on his right hand, stained teeth and noticeable acne.

The car he left the retreat in is a 2003 silver Subaru Impreza, registration number 1CKA 679.

Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of the 21-year-old should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
