Missing diver Rebecca Weiss (50) found dead after husband reported her missing.

This story seems like it will be a made for tv movie one day.
According to what Ive read from family, they think the husband killed her because he was in another relationship

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

RANCHO PALOS VERDES, Calif. (KTLA) -- Coroner's officials say an autopsy will be conducted Sunday to determine the cause of death for Rebecca Weiss, a woman who went missing last week while free diving in the Palos Verdes area.

Recreational divers found her body at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday in a cove about 200 yards from the shore. The body was removed from the water an hour later, sheriff's officials said.

Sheriff's Lt. Holly Francisco said the body was found wearing diving gear. Coroner's officials released word about 9:20 p.m. that the body was in fact Weiss.

Coroner's investigators have not yet established a cause of death.

The 50-year-old woman has been missing since last Saturday after her husband told detectives she left their home to go free diving in Rancho Palos Verdes, in a cove near the Terranea Resort.

Sheriff's homicide detectives interviewed Alan Weiss at his home in Marina del Rey on Wednesday and said he was very cooperative.

But when KTLA knocked on his door asking about the disappearance of his wife, Rebecca, he called for security.

Free diving is a form of underwater diving that does not involve the use of scuba gear or other external breathing devices.

Instead, it relies on a diver's ability to hold his or her breath until resurfacing.

While free diving alone is considered to be dangerous, Weiss told police that Rebecca did it often, officials said.

When she failed to return home, Weiss went to the area, where they often dived together.

He found her personal items on the beach, as well as her car parked nearby, but he did not find her, according to a sheriff's department news release.

Her mother, Vilma Causey, says she is doing everything she can to find out what happened to her daughter.

She and other family members say they can't understand why Rebecca's husband won't do the same.

"Very bad, very strange," Causey said of Alan Weiss' behavior.

"That is not the reaction of a person that has somebody missing that is close to you."

Alan and Rebecca Weiss have been married for 20 years.

Rebecca's mother says the relationship hasn't been perfect.

"My daughter told me that she found it on the computer... He has a girlfriend," Causey told KTLA.

Yet the couple seemed happy, according to family and friends, often traveling the world and enjoying their diving hobby together.

So he didn't want to talk to the news, and this makes him suspicious? That's stupid.

"He went to look for her, notified the police in a timely manner, and has been working through this to resolve what happened. However, he wouldn't even accept a total stranger's collect call asking if he murdered her so he must have."

Ktla merges the articles of missing people with the article of when they are found. That one article is the combination of two with parts omitted which is why it doesnt make sense. The part the mother was speaking about was her personal opinion of the husbands behavior

    Probably.

"Hey, this woman was on an escalator and fell when her husband was at home. But probably he murdered her somehow. Because he's a man."

A recreational scuba dive in Palos Verdes Sunday turned ugly when four locals from the Pasadena-based dive club Sole Searchers found the missing body of Rebecca Weiss.

"Her family members actually gave us fliers before we went into the water," South Pas resident Kaz Aizawa told Patch. "What are the odds? ... There's no way we thought we would find her."

Weiss, 50, allegedly didn't return home from free diving on the afternoon of Aug. 11 as planned, and her husband, Alan Weiss, went looking for her at their normal diving spot, authorities said. He found her car parked in a public access lot near Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes and her bag near the beach.

Rescue divers lead a four-day search for the missing Marina del Rey resident following her disappearance. But with no results, friends and family walked the beach Saturday passing out her photo and spreading information of her disappearance.

The Palos Verdes Peninsula is a popular dive spot for the Sole Searchers, who plan monthly beach and boat dives in the area.

"The visibility was about 8 to 10 feet at the start when we entered the water," explained Aizawa.

He and South Pasadena resident Jimmy Quan were paired off and stayed close together throughout the dive.

As they were making their way back, they discovered Weiss' body about 70 yards away from shore and 40 feet down at the Old Marineland, said Quan.

"We both saw her fins first. And then as we got closer, we saw her whole body. We were initially really in disbelief; to me, it was unreal," Quan told Patch.

"We found her lying on her back in the sand—almost like she was laying there sleeping," explained Aizawa. "There were no entanglements of any sort. ... She had no scuba tank, but she did have her mask, snorkel, fins, and was wearing a full wetsuit with a hood."

Aizawa and South Pasadena resident Jimmy Quan first tried to attach a dive light to her as a marker but were unsuccessful.

"Next thing I knew, Jimmy undid the weight belt [around Weiss' waist], and we slowly ... gently got her to the surface," Aizawa said.

With Quan holding her ankles and fins, the two attempted to send a message to shore. That's when Pasadena residents—and fellow Sole Searcher divers—Lars Dennert and Dave Gaines surfaced to help.

The group was instructed (via megaphone) by the an officer to stay out on the water with her until a lifeguard boat came to pick her up. It was about 40 minutes before it did, said Aizawa, and the group of divers then exited to the roped off cove and met the family. "Her sister gave me a big hug and said thank you," recalled Quan.

"I talked to the mother and the brother and gave them my condolences; it was really emotional and pretty tough. But we feel we did the right thing bringing her up to the surface," said Aizawa.

"If we had just left a marker, they may have not found her."

Following an autopsy on Sunday, doctors are conducting more tests this week to determine the cause of death, said a Los Angeles County Coroner's Office spokesperson.

Involvement of the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau in the search spurred speculation that the disappearance had turned into a possible murder case; however, Lt. Holly Francisco of the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau told the Los Angeles Times that the bureau also investigates drownings as part of its mission.

Investigators have no reason to disbelieve the account given by the missing woman's husband and have no person of interest in the case, the lieutenant said.

Detectives interviewed Alan Weiss on Wednesday as part of normal police procedure, and he gave investigators the same information that he gave them when he reported his wife missing. He has cooperated fully with the missing persons investigation, Francisco said.

She declined to answer any questions relating to surveillance video from the resort.

Anyone who may have seen Weiss diving on Aug. 11 should contact the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.

Correction: An earlier version of this article stated Weiss was wearing no snorkel or mask. Patch regrets the error.

For such an alleged romantic, you sure are cynical about these things.
Do you know, deep down, that love is a fallacy?

It does when it's wearing a weight belt.

Well it would be more accurate to say the authorities don't suspect anything. But I've seen many cases that seemed to be accidents, turn out to be something sinister once people looked a little deeper.
