A Rapid City man is being held without bond, accused of stabbing a man who refused to give him a cigarette and another man who intervened in the altercation about 4:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Main Street.
Police say Nico Steele, 22, pulled a knife and stabbed a man in the leg after his request for a cigarette was turned down. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.
A second stabbing victim received a small laceration on his back when he intervened, police say.
Steele reportedly ran from the scene but was caught near Second and St. Joseph streets, where an officer used pepper spray to subdue him.
Officers investigating the incident later learned that Steele had reportedly threatened another person.
Steele is charged with three counts of aggravated assault and possession of a controlled substance.
