Meh, I dunno. They make that decision for their children too. No treatment for your child for something treatable? This is child abuse.

"Oh, wait, it's cause your invisible friend told you not to? Then let's get these cuffs off!"

    Yea, no.

Put the dog down. Not worth the risk.

I know Angelaiscaustic had a dog that bit a kid. It was a sweet dog (I met the fucker) and I wouldn't mind him, but he attacked a kid, so if I had a kid HELL NO is that thing coming in my house. But I wouldn't have a dog with ANY kid in the house.
Dude, I don't live in a sue happy country, I'm coming from a 'you don't get your ass sued the minute you step on someones toes' point of view. So I do think of less extreme measures.

Exactly. I don't care what you believe in until what you believe in hurts someone else. Particularly your child, who is 100% dependent on you...omg, I can't.

This. I really don't get this whole protecting people against themselves when they choose to be stupid. The minute kids or other living things come in the picture I think it's a different story, but as long as they are only harming themselves, let them.

Antime I hear about someone denying their child medical care due to some nonsensical scripture I just imagine a kid in a hospital bed saying

That time thing always get me confused, cause the board says it's 10:20 am, but it's like 6 or 7 am there? Don't you like sleeping?

It's 6:30 here, 3:30 where Nancy Drew is.
You can set the board to your time zone.

If you say God said so, you can get away with a lot of nonsense here.

i'd think most religions have a clause that says you may be raised this religion but you really aren't until you can make the choice on your own. catholics have confirmation, the jewish have those mitzvahs, mormons wait until 8 to baptize and even those amish have the rarararah thingie.

the state should step in for minors - at least the ones who can't understand the implications or until the age or religious consent has been reached! idiots!

kinda on the subject of religious views getting in the way of medical treatment:
i was watching "stories of the ER" and there was one of a lady whose 17yr son was stabbed in brooklyn. he had lost a lot of blood and needed a blood transfusion. The mom was Jehovah witness so she wouldnt allow it. The doc was a woman, and a mother and was horrified at the fact that if this kid was 3 months older, HE could make the decision himself or in an emergency, the hospital would just do it to save his life. but since the mom was there, she would not consent to it.
so the doc called a judge, and actually was granted temporary custody of the 17yr old - i forget how it worked, something about the mom being in such a stressed state that she wasnt making the right choices or some junk.
anyway, the boy got the blood and was on his way to making a full recovery. do you know what the mom said.......

SHE THANKED the doctor and praised God for allowing the choice to be mad out of her hands so that she didnt violate god's law.

    WHUT???

I think I saw this show or one similar. I also saw a show where an elderly couple were in a car accident. The woman needed surgery with a blood transfusion. She refused the transfusion but they went ahead with the surgery. She lived, but it was along recovery.

And this is why I hate the concept of God. This "God" may not be so bad, but the dumb shit done in His name is fucking INFURIATING!

I gotta say, I'm surprised the bitch actually thanked the doc and didn't just thank God.

    This. Oh so much this.

If your immune system is compromise or something, it doesn't take much of a bite, or scratch to start an infection. If you have such an injury ffs get it treated and blame some random squirrel or attack pigeon or something if you don't want to rat out your dog...

Now as for having a dog that size that bites, that's crazy. Every rottie I've ever know has been sweet, but if I had one that bit me intentionally, I'd have it in obedience school so fast it'd make your head spin, and if that didn't work, well, sadly, I'd have to put it down...

The Steelhead can come back home here, stay for the rest of his days, and live among the other Rainbow trout, but he'll always be different because of where he's been." Morsi, Pamela. Garters.

wtf? the dog bit her more than once? no.

when i was younger, we had a yellow lab named abby. when she was 6 months old, she attacked my mom when she touched something near a treat she was eating. my mom immediately went to the emergency room and had the wound cleaned (no stitches, they don't like stitching animal bites), and my dad took the dog to the vet to be put down. there wasn't even a question about it.

I hate when dogs are put down from lack of training.

it wasn't lack of training. we have no idea what happened, one day her temper just changed. they did plenty of training with her, trust. but just like there are bad people, there are bad animals. sometimes their brains just aren't right. we have no idea what kind of store or place the pup came from; she was a graduation gift to my older sister from my uncle. my parents are dog people, and good ones at that. my sydney who died a few years ago was perfect. well trained, no aggression whatsoever, never jumped, never bit. sweet as can be. the dog they have now, bert, is kind of dumb, but very well trained and sweet. she thinks she's a lap dog. O.o
