Tuolumne County sheriff's officials on Wednesday were looking for a Modesto man who has been missing about two weeks.

William James Elgen, 25, had been staying since Dec. 29 at a cabin on Mount Provo Road, just south of Twain Harte. On Dec. 31, his family stopped by the cabin to check on him, but Elgen was gone.

Sheriff's officials said the family found the power turned off at the cabin and Elgen's dog and jacket inside.

His friends and family have not heard from him, and there has been no activity on Elgen's bank account.

Investigators ask anyone with information about Elgen's whereabouts to call the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Department at 533-5815.

Everytime I hear about Modesto I think of Scott and Lacy Peterson. I am surprised that with this being at Christmas time and in Modesto they have not tried to tie it in saying scott is innocent.
