way back before i figured out spencer barnes' COD, there used to be an irrelevant news blurb here, but then i deleted it. it was about a colorado fugitive who was found dead in a billings, montana, motel room around the same time spencer barnes died. the fugitive was ultimately identified as one brenton glaser, though.

i kept searching, and then i found...

so spencer died after smoking synthetic marijuana aka k2 aka SPICE. at least, according to a random change.org post i found while googling him. the timing of the cousin's comment approximately matches up with his date of death. also, this cause of death may explain why the coroner was investigating his untimely demise.

brenton glaser died march 9, but he was initially not identified in news articles, and his cause of death was reportedly "under investigation." so, AT FIRST, i thought MAYBE it was some convoluted story involving spencer barnes?

but then NO. spencer barnes died after smoking synthetic marijuana. not nearly as riveting as brenton glaser's suicide, but very very sad thing to happen.
