Ottawa police seized a loaded handgun in the area of Montreal Roand and Olmstead Street in Vanier on Friday, July 29 after arresting a man for communicating for the purpose of prostitution. The arrest occurred at about 9:15 p.m.and police identified the handgun as a 9mm calibre Springfield Arms.
Normand Corminboeuf is charged with numerous criminal offences, including: careless use, handling and storage of a firearm, possessing a dangerous weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, being an unlicensed person possessing an unregistered firearm, occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm, possessing a loaded regulated firearm, possessing a firearm obtained by crime, and possessing a firearm while prohibited.
The Guns and Gangs unit of Ottawa Police continues to investigate.
