Welcome to how someone feels about every news story ever.
Yes!
Yea, I really don't get it. I remember after Virginia Tech happened, I was with a few people and we started talking about it. Everyone's reaction was "how the hell did that kid have a legal arsenal?" and I had to mention that there's a lot of people in this country who ask "why wasn't everyone in the theater armed?"
Is just a way of thinking we couldn't grasp. And they say the same about us.
Colorado allows for the death penalty. Just sayin.
http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/C...ms-3723293.phpAshley Moser drifted in and out of consciousness in the ICU, a bullet lodged in her throat and a gunshot wound to her abdomen. In her waking moments, she called for her 6-year-old daughter Veronica.
Nobody had the heart to tell the 25-year-old mother that Veronica was already dead, the youngest victim killed at a Colorado movie theater in one of the worst mass shootings in U.S. history.
"All she's asking about, of course, is her daughter," said Annie Dalton, who is Ashley Moser's aunt.
Dalton said Veronica was "a vibrant 6-year-old. She was excited, she'd just learned how to swim. She was a great little girl, excited about life — she should be at 6 years old

Aurora shooting suspect James Holmes jailed in solitary: ‘All the inmates were talking about killing him’
'He was spitting at the door and spitting at the guards,' a just-released inmate told the Daily News. 'He's spitting at everything. Dude was acting crazy.'
Movie massacre suspect James Holmes remained unapologetic and irrational Saturday in a Colorado jail where his life was at risk from inmates bent on revenge.
Holmes, held under suicide watch in solitary confinement, remained in his murderous “Joker” persona after arriving at the Arapahoe Detention Center, a jailhouse worker told the Daily News.
“Let’s just say he hasn’t shown any remorse,” the employee said. “He thinks he’s acting in a movie.”
The man accused in the midnight theater massacre was still acting bizarrely a day after his rampage at a screening of “The Dark Night Rises” — the last film in the Batman trilogy.
“He was spitting at the door and spitting at the guards,” one released inmate told The News outside the jail. “He’s spitting at everything. Dude was acting crazy.”
Two other just-released inmates said the concerns of jail officials over Holmes’ survival were well-founded.
On the suspect’s first night in jail, other prisoners serenaded him with a chant of “kid killer” — a reference to the fatal shooting of a 6-year-old girl.
“All the inmates were talking about killing him,” Wayne Medley, 24, said as he left the facility. “Everyone was looking for an opportunity. It’s all they could talk about.”
Inmate Dima Danilov, 22, said the suspect’s face was covered with a red towel when he arrived at the jail about two hours after 12 people were killed and 58 injured in the Aurora, Colo., multiplex.
Holmes — who had dyed his hair red — was also wearing red clothing beneath the black body armor that terrified moviegoers saw when he opened fire early Friday morning, Danilov said.
Jail guards “blacked out his windows with duct tape so no one could see him,” said Danilov. “He was cuffed in the back and had leg shackles.”
The deranged suspected killer, a former honors student and Ph.D. candidate, said nothing and walked deliberately to his cell with six officers. He was offered a breakfast of grits and sausage, and a ham sandwich for lunch. If Holmes was sent into the general jail population, “he won’t live to see Monday’s court appearance,” Danilov said.
The reclusive killer was expected to make his first court appearance early Monday, offering the nation its first live look at the face of madness.
If found mentally competent and convicted in the murder spree, Holmes could land on Colorado’s Death Row.
Late Saturday, a TV station raised the specter that Holmes may not have acted alone. Citing sources, FOX31 Denver reported cops were looking for a man as a second person of interest in the case. The man, who reportedly made threatening calls demanding Holmes’ release, is a student in the Anshutz Hospital doctoral program from which Holmes withdrew several months ago.
One of the dozen people slain in the blizzard of bullets was former Verona, N.J., resident Alex Teves.
The 24-year-old physical therapist was preparing to start graduate school this September, said his aunt, Barbara Slivinske.
“He was a wonderful person,” she told the News. “He didn’t have a mean bone in his body. He was loved by everyone. He was a lot of fun, he had a great sense of humor.”
Also killed was Gorden Cowden, 51, an Aurora-based real estate appraiser and father of four.
“He was a man who loved God, loved his country, loved the outdoors but most of all loved his family,” his ex-wife said.
Comic book fan A.J. Boik, an Aurora resident and recent high school graduate, was at the movie with his girlfriend when the theater filled with smoke and flying bullets.
He was killed; she escaped.
“It’s easy to say you have a wonderful kid, but this kid was just so sweet,” said his uncle, David Hoover. “This has truly broken all of our hearts.”
The other slain victims ran the gamut from a man celebrating his 27th birthday to the 6-year-old, from a U.S. Navy sailor to an aspiring sportscaster.
“What a miracle it wasn’t worse,” said Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper. Seven of the victims remained in critical condition Saturday at Colorado hospitals.
Holmes received a large volume of ammo and other deliveries at home and work in recent months — an indication of planning and premeditation, Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates said.
Cops emptied the blood-spattered theater of all personal effects, including shoes, clothing and purses abandoned in the mad scramble for life.
Survivors and the victims’ families can start collecting the items Monday, said Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates.
The entrance to the movie theater parking lot became an impromptu memorial to the victims, with 12 candles flickering alongside endless piles of flowers and bouquets. Others commemorated the good fortune that spared their names from the litany of the lost.
High school football star Zackary Golditch, 17, committed last month to Colorado State. The 6-foot-5, 265-pound offensive tackle was recovering Saturday from a gunshot that tore through a wall and into his neck as he sat in an adjoining theater.
It ricocheted off the side of his skull and came back out of his neck in two parts,” said his uncle Benjamin Phillips.
So many victims poured into The Medical Center of Aurora that certified nurse midwife Tanya Tanner stepped forward to treat the wounded.
“I’m a nurse. That’s what I do,” Tanner said.
The White House announced Saturday that President Obama would travel to Aurora on Sunday to visit with the victims of the shooting.

'Dark Knight Rises' shooting: Three hero guys died in Aurora taking bullets for their girlfriends
In final acts of valor, Jon Blunk, Matt McQuinn and Alex Teves used their bodies to shield their girlfriends as accused madman James Holmes turned the Aurora cineplex into a shooting gallery.
Three survivors of the Colorado movie-theater massacre escaped with minor wounds, but were left with broken hearts because their heroic boyfriends died saving them.
In final acts of valor, Jon Blunk, Matt McQuinn and Alex Teves used their bodies to shield their girlfriends as accused madman James Holmes turned the Aurora cineplex into a shooting gallery.
Blunk's girlfriend, Jansen Young; McQuinn's girlfriend, Samantha Yowler; and Teves gal pal Amanda Lindgren made it out of the bloodbath but they would have been killed had it not been for the loves of their lives.
He's a hero, and he'll never be forgotten,a tearful Jansen Young told the Daily News of Blunk. Jon took a bullet for me.
She was too distraught to speak more, but her mother called Blunk, 25, who had two young children from a previous relationship, a gentleman.
He was loving, the kind of guy you want your daughter to be with, and ultimately, she's alive because of this, because he protected her, Shellie Young said.
She said Blunk, a security guard, had served in the Navy and had recently filled out papers to reenlist with a goal of becoming a Navy SEAL. To her, he was a hero anyway because he wanted to serve his country, she said of her daughter, who was left with shrapnel wounds to her side. He said that all the time: I was born to serve my country.
Jansen Young, 21, said Blunk took her to see Friday's midnight premiere of The Dark Knight Rises to celebrate her graduation from veterinarian school. As the black-clad killer burst into the theater and unleashed tear gas and a torrent of indiscriminate gunfire, Blunk selflessly protected his girlfriend.
He pushed Jansen on the ground and under her seat, then threw his body on top of her, the mother said. He was 6-feet-2, in incredible shape, which is why he was able to push her down under the seats of the theater,? the mother said. He pushed her down on the floor and laid down on top of her and he died there.
She said her daughter instantly fell in love with Blunk when they met at a local mall, where he worked as a security guard. She just plain fell in love with his good looks, the mother said. She walked up and handed him a piece of paper and said, Here's my number.
She just found it incredible that someone would spend eight years of their life in the Navy.
Blunk's estranged wife, Chantel Blunk, 26, of Reno, Nev., said he died fulfilling a lifelong dream. He always wanted to be a superhero, he's wanting to save someone or do something greater, said the mother of Blunk's kids, Hailey, 4, and Maximus, 2.
Blunk was scheduled to travel to Reno Saturday to see his children and resolve some marital issues, she said. My daughter can't comprehend it, and keeps wanting to call him, said Chantel Blunk. I try to tell her that her daddy loves her and will always be there.
Randall Blunk, 47, of Reno, said his son had served in the Navy for more than five years, mostly aboard the Nimitz in the Persian Gulf. He's a badass. That's just how he was. He's not afraid,Randall Blunk, who raised his son as a single father, told The News. I love my boy, I just loved him.
Jansen Young told her mother she could feel Blunk holding her tight as chaos reigned in the movie theater. She said she heard a woman nearby screaming, I've been shot! and recalled the boom, boom, boom of gunfire and smelling gunpowder.
There was kind of a break in between each gunshot, Jansen told the Today show. Every gunshot, I was like, This is it . . . I'm done for. Jon gave me one good push against that concrete again and then . . . I didn't really feel his arms against my back anymore but I knew he was still there.
When the shooting subsided, she realized Blunk was shot. I started shaking him and saying, Jon, Jon, we have to go . . . it's time for us to get out of here, she said, adding that she tried to pull Blunk by the shoulder, but he didn't move.
Equally heroic was the 24-year-old Teves, who hurled his girlfriend to the floor as bullets whizzed through the theater.
He pushed her to the floor to save her and he ended up getting a bullet, said his aunt, Barbara Slivinske, 57. He was gonna hit the floor himself, but he never made it.
Samantha Yowler had a similar story of horror and heroism about her boyfriend, Matt McQuinn, whose last living act was to shield her from death. Yowler, 26, survived with a gunshot wound to the knee and is in fair condition after undergoing surgery.
McQuinn's family credited his quick actions for saving Samantha's life. Witnesses said he dove on top of his girlfriend as the shooting started and that Samantha's brother, Nick, who was also in the theater, helped get her out of harm's way. Nick Yowler was unharmed in the shooting.
Both the Yowler and McQuinn families thank everyone for their concerns, thoughts and prayers during this difficult time, the McQuinn's lawyer, Robert Scott, said in a statement. Unfortunately, Matt perished from the injuries he sustained during the tragic events that unfolded . . . and went home to be with his maker.
McQuinn, 27, and Yowler met at a Target store in Springfield, Ohio, where they worked. They transferred to a Target in Aurora last November.
He was a great outgoing person, a co-worker at the Colorado Target told The News. We lost a great person and we still can?t picture or realize that he's gone.
Co-worker Shelly Aquino said she works closely with Yowler, who was to help her open the store Saturday morning. She said she cried when she opened the store on her own. This morning was very hard, but I need to work, Aquino said. She said she last spoke to Yowler Thursday afternoon.
The last hug we gave each other was on Thursday. She's a great person, she's very responsible ... she doesn't hesitate to help out.

Those pictures fucking slay my soul...
I woke up and saw a picture of Gordon on TV and thought of this thread and his poor tribute. Gordon was super cute!! RIP.Just saw that Gage on TV, too. Glad he survived. I have a Gage now, although I won't be taking him to he movies any time soon and I'm fairly certain his dad would take a bullet for both of us. Grateful for that!
I agree this guy is trying to be some sort of Heath Ledger version of the Joker, and failing miserably. I would much rather see him get sent over to Supermax with Kaczynski and the underwear bomber for the next 75 years than put on death row. I am totally fascinated with the Supermax - a cement bed, 23/7 solitary, no communication and getting your food through a slot. It's still too good for this guy but that is where he belongs. I doubt we'll ever know, as has been said, but I just really want to know what happened in his head that led to this. I need to find the article but he was in school on a federal grant to study the biological basis for human behavior or something like that! And why did he surrender so easily, and actually warn the cops about his apartment?
Also, by all accounts the police did an incredible job in the early response to this and saved a lot of lives by transporting people to hospitals in their vehicles immediately. I still don't understand the delay on family notification but the first responders should definitely be recognized for heroics.
Here is the article about his science background - sorry if it's been posted.

I have to wonder about James Holmes' family. They had this brilliant kid. Did he seem normal to them, or did they know he was "troubled" I'm sure they were proud of him, doing so well in school. Now, they must be horrified by what he did... They have to know he's never going to see the light of day, are they relieved that someone else is going to have to deal with him? or are the just poleaxed?
"It's the salt water that changes the Rainbow's pretty colors to gray." "And his colors never come back?" "No, once he's been to the sea he's changed forever. The Steelhead can come back home here, stay for the rest of his days, and live among the other Rainbow trout, but he'll always be different because of where he's been." Morsi, Pamela. Garters.
There were quite a few reports going around when it first happened that his mother called a San Diego news station and said she knew it was her son (before his name was released) and she had to get in touch with Co. authorities. I don't know if it was because there was a history of him being troubled or if he recently started saying weird shit to them.

ugh. fuck this tiny dicked joker wannabe, and fuck the dude who left his fiancee and their 2 kids inside while he ran off to save himself. dicks, all of them. DICKS.
no joke, i'm legitimately enraged at the nerve of the dude who put his kid down because he was afraid that his crying would attract the shooters attention. (and duh, i'm even more enraged a the shooter, of course.)

A forward is going around Facebook suggesting that someone get Christian Bale to Colorado to visit the children that were injured in the shootings...am I the only one that thinks that isn't a good idea? Well-meaning, yes, but I don't think the majority of those kids associate Batman with anything good now.
Oh, I saw that. I don't think he would come in dressed as Batman or anything.
I'm sure we'll start hearing about this shooter's slow loss of a grip on reality. He's right at the age when males start showing signs of adult onset schizophrenia. Be a shame for that to be used since crazy or not, he knew what he was doing.
You slept with mike so he would ban me. change your sig..the pretentious look how hipster face is so old ooh you like guys with glasses..ooooh
I think a visit from Batman might not have the desired effect. At best, Batman will get a lot of "Where the fuck were you asshole!" At Worst, the kids might cry and freak out and be yet another reminder of something they can't stop thinking about already. Bale as himself might be cool though.
I would be PUMPED to get a visit from Christian Bale but really bummed by how horrible and gross I would look.

Jessica Redfield/Ghawi was an acquaintance of mine. We had worked with a lot of mutual people, and crossed paths a few times. Utterly shocked to hear about this. She was going to make it in broadcasting.
