Troy Galloway killed when his daughter Brianna (18) ran off the road while intoxicated

A teenager faces serious charges after a car accident killed her father.

The N.C. Highway Patrol said Brianna Galloway, 18, was driving on Stone Chimney Road near Highway 211 in Supply around 1:30 a.m. Thursday when she ran off the road and hit a tree.

Galloway's father, Tory Kevin Galloway, was the passenger in the vehicle and was not wearing a seat belt. Galloway was taken to a hospital, treated and released.

Brianna was charged with driving while impaired and felony death by vehicle. She is reportedly from Lumberton and was not familiar with the area at the time of the crash.

Troopers say Brianna told them that she and her father had been drinking at the home of a friend of her father's the night of the crash, though she was not able to say where exactly they were.

Alcohol law enforcement officials are continuing to look for the house to see if anyone else contributed to her underage drinking.

Four hours after the crash, Brianna's blood alcohol content was a .07.

Troopers suspect that the father may have also been intoxicated, and several open cans of alcohol were found around the vehicle.

You know what that means...it means he was wayyyyyy too drunk to drive, and she was obviously the same but he had her drive him home anyway. That sucks. Now she's gotta live with the fact that she got her father killed, and for what? A few laughs and a few beers? At 18 years old maybe he thought he was doing her a favor by having her there with him while she drank so he could watch over her. The alternative is worse, having her there to drive him home because he knew he was gonna get wasted.

SUPPLY -- Mr. Troy Kevin Galloway, age 41, of Supply died Thursday, June 28, 2012.

Troy was born in New Hanover County on May 8, 1971, and was the son of Jimmy D. and Ruby Rivenbark Galloway of the home. He was a commercial fisherman. Troy was a member of Word Of Christ Fellowship.

Survivors in addition to his parents include his wife Tina Britt Galloway; three children, Shae Britt, Austin Galloway and wife Megan, Brianna Galloway all of Fairmont; a granddaughter, Ava Galloway; two brothers, Mark Galloway and wife Lori of Supply, Jeffrey Galloway and wife Sherrie of Athens, PA.; two sisters, Felecia Varnum and husband Harold Jr. of Supply, Misty Carmichael and husband Jack of Supply; 12 nieces and nephews and 1 great nephew.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 1, 2012, at 12:00 noon at Dixon Chapel United Methodist Church with Reverend Gerald Kirby officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be, John Galloway, Troy Caison, Terrance Galloway, Cody Galloway, Patrick Cannon, Keith Galloway.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6-8 at Dixon Chapel United Methodist Church.

Richard Shae Britt, 20, a student, died Dec. 30, 2007, at his home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Floyd Memorial Chapel, the Rev. Chip Bass officiating. Burial will follow in New Hollywood Cemetery in Lumberton.

Britt was born in Robeson County. He was the son of Charles Wilcox and Tina Britt Galloway.

He was a 2006 graduate of Lumberton High School. He was a avid lover of baseball, hunting and fishing. He was also a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his father, Charles Wilcox of Lumberton; his stepfather, Troy Galloway of Supply; his mother, Tina Britt Galloway of Lumberton; a brother, Kevin Austin Galloway of Lumberton; a sister, Brianna Noelle Galloway of Lumberton; a stepsister, Megan Wilcox of South Carolina; his maternal grandparents, Donald and Jewell Britt, both of Orrum; his maternal great-grandmother, Myrtle Britt of Lumberton; his paternal grandparents, Jimmy and Ruby Galloway of Supply and Jimmy Wilcox and Connie Rowland of Lumberton. He is also survived by his fiance, Courtney Allen.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Floyd Mortuary and Crematory in Lumberton.

I shouldn't try to tell people how to grieve, but damn, if my drunk driving caused my dad's death, I can't imagine I'd be cracking jokes on Facebook two weeks later.
