Look at how long it has taken them to get PSA's about texting and driving on. And from what I've noticed is they are only on late night. Sex trafficking has been going on for decades and I am so glad to finally see someone snap out of the uptight American dream and pushing it mainstream.

EVANSDALE, Iowa (AP) - Investigators searching for two missing Iowa cousins say they want to interview a person who was paddleboating on a lake near where they disappeared 10 days ago.

FBI spokeswoman Sandy Breault (broh) said Monday that investigators want to interview the person who was boating July 13 on Meyers Lake because that person may have information that could help the search for 10-year-old Lyric Cook-Morrissey and 8-year-old Elizabeth Collins.

Breault says the boater is not a suspect but that investigators "really do need to talk with the person." The boater has not voluntarily come forward to speak with investigators, who for days have urged the public to step forward to tell what they know. The girls' bikes were found near the lake.

Breault said investigators still believe the girls are alive.

Oh wow thanks, Emmie. It's so weird that nobody saw anything because that lake is crazy small - and RIGHT next to Interstate 380. The reason they are talking about there being a lot of traffic, though, is because it makes it LESS likely that someone abducted them from the highway. The road right there is currently under construction and cut from 4-lane divided to 2-lane, two-way traffic on one side, so it is really congested going through there and at that time of the day there surely would have been workers around. I.E. - it would be really hard for someone to stop and abduct them and go unnoticed. It would be virtually impossible for anyone to stop along that stretch in general. However, I agree that the sex ring premise is totally legit. Just probably not from the highway. More likely, someone followed them on their bikes to the lake - waited until they got to that particular area on the trail, which is secluded by trees, and somehow lured them.

I wonder if the person boating wasn't even aware of the girls presence, but hopefully they will have some info for LE. Though I find it weird that the FBI is involved and they've made statements saying they think the girls are okay and now they are asking for a witness to come forth. Also interesting how do they know there was someone boating? Interesting the way they go about their investigations sometimes.

Missing Iowa Cousins: Surveillance Video of Elizabeth Collins and Lyric Cook Discovered

Authorities in Iowa investigating the disappearance of 8-year-old Elizabeth Collins and her 10-year-old cousin, Lyric Cook, have obtained new video of the missing girls from the day they vanished 12 days ago.

Although the girls only look like a blur as they cross the frame on their bicycles in the video, and the footage of the two girls lasts only seconds, investigators say they now are analyzing it for any clues that could lead to information about the girls whose bicycles were later recovered on a trail by nearby Meyers Lake in Evansdale, Iowa.

"It looked kind of grainy, I mean just zoom they were by the thing and so it's very hard to really make much out of the thing," Black Hawk County Chief Deputy Rick Abben said. "The girls were less than a block from the house when this camera captured them riding by, important to note they were riding away from Meyers Lake."

The video also matches the police timeline. Investigators say the girls left the home to ride their bikes shortly after noon July 13. The camera's clock shows it was 12:11 p.m. when they rode by.

Both of their bicycles were recovered on a trial near the lake about four hours after they were reported missing, after they left for a neighborhood bike ride and haven't been seen since.

The surveillance camera belongs to a local auction house. With few clues in the investigation, the house's manager. Joe Pahl. thought to look for the video and turned it over to the FBI.

"Anything we can do to help," Pahl said. "We want to see the girls come back safe and alive."

Authorities reclassified the case as an abduction Friday. FBI spokeswoman Sandy Breault said Monday that investigators believe the two girls are alive, although she would not offer any details to explain their confidence. The optimism in this small northeast Iowa town, she noted, was inspiring.

"If hope alone can bring them home, they'll come home," Breault said.

Misty Morrissey and husband Dan, the separated parents of Lyric, had stopped answering investigators' questions on the advice of their attorney late last week, although Misty submitted to a second polygraph test Tuesday.

The move came as the pair bristled under intense scrutiny because of their criminal histories. Both of them have been convicted of felony drug charges and served time behind bars.

A $50,000 reward is now being offered for information that would lead to their being found.

Waterloo, Ia. - The father of one missing Iowa girl won?t have to sit through trial next week after a Black Hawk County judge Friday agreed to delay his trial until later next month.

?I can understand why recent events may have had your mind and your attention on matters other than preparing for trial with your attorney,? Judge Andrea Dryer told Dan Morrissey Friday during a pre-trial conference.

Morrissey, 36, was scheduled to go to trial on Tuesday on four cases involving charges of domestic assault and possession, making and delivery of methamphetamine, but Dryer delayed it until Aug. 28.

The serious nature of the crimes and the fact that he?s a repeat offender mean Morrissey could face decades in prison if he is found guilty.

Morrissey wore a pink bracelet with the words ?Prayers for Elizabeth and Lyric,? at his hearing Friday morning.

His daughter, Lyric Cook-Morrissey, 10, and niece Elizabeth Collins, 8, went missing from Evansdale on July 13.

Their bicycles were found that afternoon, but officials say they have few other clues to the girls? whereabouts.

In the days since the disappearance, family members have told reporters that Morrissey and his wife Cook-Morrissey have been subjected to multiple polygraph tests and that Morrissey was accused of taking and killing the girls.

The two consulted an attorney last week and said they had stopped talking with police. That cooperation has since improved, investigators in the case said.

Late last week a judge changed Morrissey?s pretrial release conditions to require that he stay in contact with the Iowa Department of Correctional Services? pretrial service program.

He and his attorney Kevin Schoeberl declined to speak with reporters following the hearing.

Meanwhile, FBI spokeswoman Sandy Breault said that authroities from the FBI, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and other agencies involved in the search will remain ?100 percent committed? to looking for Lyric and Elizabeth as long as leads keep coming in.

Breault said officials will not place a timeline on when or if the search will be scaled back.

She declined to say whether authorities have any suspects or had issued any search or arrest warrants related to the girls? abduction.

Law enforcement agencies working on the case are still asking people who saw the girls on Friday, July 13 to contact them.

Breault said today she doesn?t believe people are intentionally withholding information, but that they might think they don?t know anything important.

?Honestly, I think people don?t think to come forward because they don?t think they saw anything,? she said. ?That?s perfectly normal for most people, they think ?They don?t want to talk to me,? or they don?t want to waste our time, but that?s not the case at all.?

Family, friends and community members will mark the two-week anniversary of the girls? disappearance this evening with a vigil at Deerwood Park, just blocks from where their bicycles were found 15 days ago.

Girls' unlce treated for Thursday night overdose

Waterloo police confirmed that an uncle to missing girls Lyric Cook-Morrissey, 10, and Elizabeth Collins, 8, was taken to the hospital yesterday on a possible drug overdose.

Authorities responded to a Waterloo home late Thursday night where they found two people, including the girls' uncle Jeremiah Cook, who they suspected had overdosed on drugs. An official with the Waterloo Police Department could not provide an update on his condition.

Wylma Cook says her 32-year-old son Jeremiah was in stable condition Friday at Allen Hospital in Waterloo after the overdose Thursday night. She says he's expected to be OK.

Wylma Cook says the disappearance of 10-year-old Lyric Cook and 8-year-old Elizabeth Collins has "taken a toll" on Jeremiah, who was having trouble sleeping and eating. She says he has no children but was very close to his nieces, considering them his "prized possessions."

The girls vanished after leaving for a bike ride July 13 in Evansdale.

Cook says her son hadn't taken methamphetamine, cocaine or marijuana, but she declined to say what caused the overdose.

FBI spokeswoman Sandy Breault said the incident was unrelated to the girls' disappearance and that she could not comment on it.

Maybe he is hiding the girls to have time to keep pushing off a trial and then flee. No that would be to easy. I don't think I have ever seen a judge be that lenient for any reason really when it comes to repeat offenders. Hmm

That statement sounds like he might wear skin suits. This whole family seems a bit weird. I bet they said screw it ditched their bikes and hopped a train.

In all seriousness though, I really do hope these two girls are found alive and healthy!

    EVANSDALE, Iowa ?
The Waterloo Courier newpaper posted a letter Tuesday morning from the families of the Evansdale girls to the children's kidnapper.

The letter comes on the four month anniversary of the Elizabeth Collins and Lyric Cook-Morrissey's disappearance. Authorities believe the girls were abducted from town while they were on a bike ride.

The letter posted online about 9 a.m. is titled "To Whom It May Concern."

It starts by saying the families have no idea who the kidnapper is, but they know something about the person.

"Because only someone who hurts inside would hurt another person and their family," reads the letter.

The letter talks about the pain that families have experienced. It calls on the person to be "a hero, not a monster."

The letter asks the person to let the girls come home. It is signed by Drew and Heather Collins and Dan and Misty Morrissey-Cook.

You can find the letter online at http://wcfcourier.com

This is really sad, but I am wondering what makes them believe that the girls are still alive?

Authorities say hunters have found bodies believed to be two young Iowa cousins who disappeared while riding their bikes in July.

Black Hawk County sheriff's Capt. Rick Abben said during a news conference that the bodies were found Wednesday afternoon, though he wouldn't say where.

Abben says both are being sent to the state medical examiner's office to verify they are the bodies of 11-year-old Lyric Cook and 9-year-old Elizabeth Collins.

The two girls vanished July 13 near Meyers Lake in Evansdale, about 110 miles northeast of Des Moines. Their bikes were found near the lake.

Abben appeared to be fighting back tears as he said, "the outcome was not the one we wanted."

Abben says the area where the bodies were found is still being processed.

Two bodies found today are being linked to the disappearance of missing Iowa girls Lyric Cook-Morrissey, 10, and Elizabeth Collins, 8, authorities said.

The bodies were found at 12:45 p.m. today by two hunters in a wooded area. Black Hawk County authorities would not confirm that the bodies were those of the girls, but mentioned the investigation often in a brief and vague 4 p.m. press conference.

They did say the discovery led them to believe the search for the girls would not have a positive outcome.

“Right now, it's looking like the outcome was not what we want,” Captain Rick Abben of the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Department said.

The bodies have been sent to the State Examiner’s Office in Ankeny for a positive identification.

    Background Information
Lyric Cook-Morrissey, then 10, and her cousin Elizabeth Collins, then 8, disappeared from the Waterloo suburb of Evansdale on July 13.

Their grandmother last saw the girls riding their bikes shortly after noon on July 13; a firefighter found their bikes along a recreational trail at a nearby lake about four hours later.

Since then, hundreds of volunteers have searched an area surrounding the lake where the girls were last seen. The lake was drained and members of both families were questioned.

Authorities had believed the girls were abducted but have released little information about the search for their whereabouts.

Since then, both families have reached out to the public, asking that the girls be returned.

Last month to mark the four-month anniversary of the girls’ disappearance, parents Drew and Heather Collins, and Dan Morrissey and Misty Cook-Morrissey submitted a letter to the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier intended for anyone who might have abducted the girls.

"Taking the girls from us has caused much pain, pain for them, pain for us and our families," the parents wrote. "We want you to know that we are praying for you to do the right thing. By releasing the girls, everyone wins. Even you. The person who took them."

Last week, an anonymous donor offered $100,000 for any credible information leading to the safe return of the girls. More than $50,000 had already been donated to a fund.

I was hoping the FBI was right and the girls were alive, I wasn't convinced. It's so sad.

Yeah. The rare Elizabeth Smart or Jaycee Duggard give you a bit of hope, but it wasn't holding out a lot of hope at this time.
