People think I'm a dick when I say it, but this is exactly why we need to stop treating severe food allergies and start taking all the warnings off things. I'm not saying let diabetics die, but if you can't even be in the same room with a fucking peanut, let's let Mother Nature do her thing, and if you think drinking shampoo is a good idea, then such is life..

There are WAY too many dummies having WAY too many kids.

    oh, ron.

i do hate the fact that kids can't even bring cupcakes or anything into school to celebrate their damn birthdays anymore. things like that were a fun part of growing up. i mean, i know i looked forward to my birthday cupcakes, planning them in advance and all that. although since it was my birthday, shouldn't they have brought ME some treats? lol.

i don't understand how allergies have gotten this bad. like, planes having to be held up because they need to be super cleaned and vacuumed before a passenger with a peanut allergy boards the damn thing? what. the. fuck. i know if i was that allergic to something, i'd just want to die. thats no way to live, dude.

At my kids' school there is a hallway with like 3 or 4 classrooms that is a no peanut zone. Like there are seriously signs posted that say 'no peanuts beyond this point'. And it's all for ONE kid that has a severe peanut allergy.

Yes, because the emotional trauma brought on by your kid having to get non-peanut stuffed sugar treats is obviously significantly greater than the emotional trauma of witnessing a kid die from an allergic reaction.

dude, since when is it everyone elses responsibility to pander to your kids needs? you can't bubblewrap the world, or disinfect it. the fact that you can't send your kid to school with a pb&j sandwich anymore is ridiculous. you do realize how many things that soy, wheat, nuts, milk etc are in, don't you? look at any label. if my kid winds up having a food allergy, then we'll have to adapt to our surroundings...i won't expect the world to adapt to our needs. we had kids with food allergies in my school back in the day. guess what. if someone brought cupcakes in, they didn't eat one. they got something else, and they dealt with it.

Because we keep doing shit so people with severe allergies actually get older and reproduce. I'm not kidding here. That's why it's gotten so bad.

They have kids and pass their fucked up genes on so we have more kids that are made out of glass.

And yea, I can't imagine being THAT allergic to something.

At my daughter's first grade school they were not allowed to bring treats for birthdays, Valentines Day, nor dress up for Halloween because it would bother the other religious cultures at the school. This was in America!

I moved her back to the better school where they all got to dress up for Halloween, even the Principal.

There are religions that are bothered by Halloween?

    Here's a thought: don't celebrate it then.

The reason allergies are so much worse is exactly what Ron said. Additionally, the more we immunize things, other issues get stronger.

Personally, I have a very serious allergy to perfumed things and I don't really appreciate being made to feel like an asshole if I'm at work and I say 'hey, can you not burn that candle, because IT'S FUCKING KILLING ME.'

thats a little different. something like a smell/chemical can affect a lot of people at once. but we're talking about a peanut allergy, which will likely affect less people, therefore making the need to ban it unnecessary.

I think that's totally different though.

It is different. I can re-light that candle after you leave. I can live without that candle. But I cannot face life without ever having a pb&j for lunch during the week because a classmate/co worker can drop dead by it's mere presence, wrapped in plastic, in a paper bag in my book/work bag. Like forever!

And they avoid it by having the school ban peanut butter, no?

    Yep.

Seriously, if you're that sensitive, I can't comprehend how you can even make it to an age old enough to have children.

Well, I'm glad my sister's school band peanut butter so she didn't die, at least.

well, someone who has xeroderma pigmentosum is *allergic* to the sun. so fuck it. instead of the person staying inside and adapting to an ultraviolet free life, lets blow up the sun for the XPer.

I don't really see how these two things are the same. Should these kids have to be homeschooled? Is peanut butter that important?

its not just peanut butter, though. you can be allergic (to the point of anaphylaxis) to anything....we can't ban everything. i'm allergic to ibuprofen. do i take it? no. do i go near anyone right after they've taken it? not if i know about it. i stay away, and thats MY responsibility. i don't expect people to adapt to my issues.

We can get to the point where kids can't bring soy, dairy, citrus, etc if this shit keeps up.

And I'll be damned if my kid has to eat cardboard like a fucking Vegan. My child will eat food!
