Lisette Bamenga (29) gassed her young children to death and failed to kill herself at the same time

The deranged wife of a rookie cop fatally gassed their 5-year-old son and infant daughter before a botched suicide try in their Bronx apartment, police sources said Friday.
A confessional note from Lisette Bamenga, found near the two tiny bodies, said the children would be in "a better place" after their deaths, a police source said.

Lisette Bamenga killed her two kids and attempted suicide in the Noble Mansion apartment building on Noble Ave. in Parckchester, the Bronx.

Bamenga tried sealing the windows of the ninth-floor Nobel Ave. home with plastic and tape before turning on the burners of her gas stove, according to the source.
She forced the children to drink toxic windshield wiper fluid, and slashed her wrists in a failed attempt to kill herself, the source said.
"We don't know what happened," Robert Mpeke, 48, the woman's brother, said as her family gathered at the building. "It's just very hard."

Trevor Noel Jr., 5, nicknamed 'Boogie,' and 4-month-old sister Lillian were killed by their mother Lisette Bamenga (right), police said.

An upstairs tenant in the building called 911 just before midnight Thursday to report a gas leak.
First responders arrived at 11:53 p.m. to find a gruesome sight inside apartment 9N: The unresponsive Trevor Noel Jr. and his 4-month-old sibling Lillian lying on the floor inside the southeast Bronx home.
EMS workers tried desperately to revive the infant girl and the little boy, nicknamed "Boogie," before both were pronounced dead at the scene.
"I saw the baby outside the building," neighbor Randy Marcado, 44, told the Daily News. "Legs were moving a little bit. They were giving the baby CPR."

The tragedy brought a grief-stricken woman to her knees outside the building.

First-year NYPD Officer Trevor Noel, assigned to the 28th Precinct in uptown Manhattan, returned from his night shift to find the children dead and his apartment ? now a crime scene.

The devastated dad dissolved into tears at the news. The couple moved into the apartment just two months ago; one source indicated they had argued in the days before the tragedy.

Hours later, his wife's family wept outside the building as NYPD investigators hauled out bags of evidence.

The 29-year-old Bamenga was alive, with just minor cuts on her wrists, and was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx for treatment, police said. She was listed in stable condition.

No charges were filed by police in the deaths.
Bamenga "wasn't very talkative," said neighbor Vickie Montalvo. "She kept to herself. ... It's a tragedy. I'm trying to understand it, because there's children involved."

The mom's Facebook page indicated she is originally from Paris, and is a rabid soccer fan whose favorite player was Frenchman Thierry Henry.

French immigrant Lisette Bamenga, who loves soccer, shows off her Red Bulls shirt in a photo from her Facebook page.

A man who lives beneath the death apartment said he heard strange noises coming from above him Thursday night.

"They are usually very quiet," said the man, who declined to give his name. "I heard loud banging. Three loud bangs, like someone was dropping something heavy on the ground."
The thumps were followed by an eerie silence.
"It was quiet," he said. "I didn't hear anything after that."

Three children dead after bloody weekend

The five days leading up to Saturday saw a whopping 16 murders in New York, including three children who police say were killed at the hands of their own mothers.

On Friday night, a woman in the Bed-Stuy section of Brooklyn was charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter, after police responded to a chilling 911 call she made. Tenika Revell, 40, told the operator that she had killed her own son with a hammer and was attempting to kill herself, according to reports.

When police arrived at the apartment, they found Revell, an ex-con and a suspected prostitute, still alive after an attempted pill overdose, according to the Daily News. But her son, Bernard Revell, 9, was found with deep cuts to his head and pronounced dead on arrival.

Revell had been arrested 33 times in the past, including several times for prostitution, according to the News.

A day earlier, on Thursday, a young Bronx mother allegedly poisoned her 4-month-old daughter and 5-year-old son, according to police. Lisette Bamenga, 29, then unsuccessfully tried to kill herself.

Bamenga, a city schoolteacher who is also dating a rookie NYPD officer, allegedly forced her children, Trevor Noel, Jr. and little Lillian Noel, to drink toxic wiper fluid. Bamenga then sealed up the apartment windows, turned up the gas, and slit her own wrists, the Daily News reported.

Bamenga, who on Facebook is seen laughing and holding her two children, left a suicide note that read her children “were going to a better place." According to reports, she was upset over relationship problems.

Bamenga’s boyfriend, Officer Trevor Noel, returned home from his Thursday night shift to the horrific scene, according to the Daily News. EMS workers tried to revive the two small children, but were unable. Bamenga, originally from Paris, France, survived and was charged with murder.

In a separate incident, a 3-year-old boy was grazed in the leg by a bullet during a shootout in Bed-Stuy Sunday afternoon. The boy was playing in front of his house at 383 Pulaski Street when he was caught in the gunfire at about 4 p.m. The child is expected to survive the graze wound, police told Metro. No arrests have yet been made.

And police continue to investigate the murders of three men reportedly shot to death over a woman outside a nightclub in Queens on Saturday. Officers are looking for the gunman suspected of executing all three with a total of 63 shots fired from an AK-47. At least two of the victims were fathers of young children.

It's serious business. Credit card fraud goes up in heat as well. Odd, but true.
