Childfree. I am too selfish to spend my money on a child.

I think part of why I want kids is because I'm so good with them. Shit, I better be

I like to nurture which I'm hoping will lend itself to being a good mother. L is going to be an incredible father so I'm hoping that makes up for all my neuroses.

I have three boys and there have def been times when I wished that I would have waited because I feel like I missed out on a lot.
It is def hard to make plans because of all the schedules we are on, school, sports, dr appts, etc.
When you are a parent you forget especially the first 10 years what it was like to take a nap without having to do it with one eye open. The expenses of having kids are ridiculous. I mean, all these boys are going to be driving so i have to buy cars, pay for insurance, high school is more expensive, all the activities, the clothes, the shoes, everything.

    Ugh, there is a lot.

when they're at the age that they're going to be driving, they can pay for their own insurance, clothes, shoes etc. and buying cars? won't be doing that for my kids. my mom gave me her super old car when she got a new one. there's no way i'm buying my kid a car. and when i was 12, i started paying for my own school clothes and stuff. not that i had to, i wanted to.

Yeah, there was no car, no computer, and no allowance once I was old enough to be earning my own money.

yep. nowadays, every kid has their own computer. fuuuuuuuck that shit. if my kid wants one, they'll have to earn it. we earned things in my house when i was growing up. of course there was the occasional extravagant gift, like at christmas, but my kid isn't going to grow up getting everything he/she wants. kids that get everything they want turn out to be entitled assholes. i was given everything i needed, not wanted.

My mom always made sure I had school clothes and always had money on me and everything else. I was spoiled tho. BUT when my dad left, my mom couldnt afford to do all those things for me. I started working when I was 15 at a little convenience store, the owner was good friends with my parents. Then at 16, I was working as a cashier at Kmart. My dad made me take 40$ out of each paycheck, we got paid every friday and he would put that money in an envelope for me to start saving up for a down payment on a car. Of course he ended up not buying me a car and neither did my mom. I got a car later on myself.

See, we are in a position where we can do a little more for the kids because all our stuff is paid off. I won't buy these boys new cars, hell no. Bodhi isnt even allowed to drive the dodge because it's worth too much. Right now he is driving a pathfinder but this kid wants a pinto. A PINTO!
As long as he brings me home 4.0's every report card and he is still volunteering I will pay for his insurance but he has to pay for his gas. He will start getting 20$ a week and he has to be frugal with it. He's only gotten his permit so far so gas and insurance isnt an issue yet. All the boys are expected to get good grades but I also know that each one of them are different so what is good for the one, might not be the same for the other two boys.
Noah is nowhere near the student Bodhi is but he tries and thats what matters and Dallas, well that remains to be seen, too young yet to know.
I want them to seriously put everything into school and then college. The rule is that they are allowed to live under my roof until they are out of college but they still have to abide by my rules. If they dro pout of school/college, they have to move out and they are not taking the car and im not paying for their insurance. Im going to be super rough on this one because I want them in college.
Ill support them as much as i can financially if they are really dedicated to school. I don't want them breaking their backs working in a mill like most people here do.

My boys are a little spoiled but I think Ive done that to them because I have felt so bad for all they have dealt with over the past 4 or more years. I enjoy making them happy and believe me, i wont just hand them things. They have to be respectful, kind and doing what they need to be doing. Ive said it before, I am raising these boys to be good men when they get older.
I don't want them to struggle but im also not going to let them go without knowing what responsibility is.

    Jacked, neener. But really funny.

And no computer? Dang. Not sure why I care since I'm anti kid, but I'd want a child to have a computer from a young age if possible.

The boys have a computer out in their room, it's my old one from like 5 years ago and it's still a good one. We have 3 computers tho. They all have satellite in their rooms and Bodhi is the only one with a cell phone. Noah had one but he dropped it in a swimming pool and since then, I have seen him lose a few other things and so Im not letting him have another cell phone for awhile and it will be one of our old phones.
Bodhi has paid for part of his cell phones in the past. He waits until he has an upgrade and then he pays for half of what is left with his babysitting money from me and other people and then i pay the other half. Now, when jammie and i buy new phones, bodhi takes one of ours. Jammie and I love getting new phones so we wait a year and buy another one and if we dont sell our phone back, we keep one or both and let bodhi have one.

I came from a pretty wealthy family, which is exactly why they wanted to raise me knowing how to make my own way.

I don't understand when I see an 8 year old with an iPhone. It's bad form. You're going to raise little monsters.

Bodhi got his when he was 10 I think but we got him the phone in the first place because when he was with his dad and I called to talk to him they wouldn't answer. It was shady as fuck so we got him one for that reason but it was a little flip phone that want worth shit. He has to work off his phone bill every month. He does some babysitting for me or I'll have him do laundry the whole day. He's like me and likes things clean so I'm cool with him doing that kind of stuff.

Yea, I had computers since kindergarten. Q-Link, Commodore 64, 56k and 128k baud modems, BBS boards. I remember all that shit.

Computer is a little different I think. I'd give them a computer young, but no internet.
