Depending on the degree of the taunting. These kids were really out of hand. Were these kids normally like this to her on the bus? Maybe I missed it somewhere if it said so but did this just come out of nowhere?

I went to show it to my husband and my husband couldnt even watch it. My oldest boy didnt like it and wanted it turned off. He just said he couldnt imagine how mad he would feel if that were his grandma being taunted. He said his anger would have been at a level he isnt ever used to.

Im not saying she isnt deserving of a good time but what get's me is the amount of money raised in such a short time! Over 300K? Holy hell! She could technically retire right now if she wanted to.

She said they weren't normally like that; they must have just been having a bad day.

I tried to watch it and couldn't. I watched Luka Magnotta fuck that guy's torso, but I couldn't watch asshole kids being mean to this lady. Maybe because I listened to kids say shit to my retarded sister forever. (And some guy tried to finger her on a bus. )

I hope she does retire. I stand by my assertion that she deserves it. She didn't ask for shit and has been a loyal employee for years. It would be nice if everyone who was having a shitty time could get $400k (see: MEEEEE), but it doesn't make me upset that she got it when most people don't. Especially since Kristen Stewart makes $35 mill a movie.

She didn't do anything necessarily to "deserve" it, but no one should be subject to that kind of cruelty. I'm glad someone posted the names of those kids and their addresses. Not because I think they deserve death threats, but because that way, we ALL know who the parents are. And ultimately we know it's the parents who are to blame. Don't make excuses for your child's bad behavior. Put an end to it, THAT'S YOUR GODDAMN JOB.
I hope this lady retires and is able to do all the things she wants to do, and all thanks to the kindness of strangers. Stories like this remind me that this world isn't quite as fucked up as it seems, and that there is still good in it.
    lolwut? Random.

A shitty thing happened to a nice old lady, and people, a LOT of people, are being nice to her. What's the big fucking deal if she didn't cure cancer too?

Also, I don't think anything is going to happen to those kids.

Yeah, nothing is happening to those kids.

I'm debating showing my kid the video.

I think that what I'm saying is being misunderstood. I full well think she should get all of that cash. I also think it's great that people are doing something for someone who has had a rough go of things, and then gets tormented by kids to top it off. I just don't think it's the same as if she lost an eye due to negligence on the part of the water park's maintenance crew.

I dunno what WTBB is saying, I'm all for it. I just think the word 'deserved' was misused I guess?

I'm amazed (in a good way) how people have responded to this. I would feel much better though, if the parents came forward to acknowledge what their kids did.

I'm just surprised it hasn't been spun by them to put the blame on her yet.

Oh, I'm sure some of the parents will. Some kids are truly not assholes and weren't raised that way but they fell into the pack mentality. Other kids are assholes because their parents raised them that way.

Then I guess we're not disagreeing, unless you have an issue with my use of the term "deserved," which I didn't misuse, IMO. Is it due to her? Well, no. Deserved = worthy/suitable. Do I think this woman is worthy of never having to work a horrible job where kids tell her that her kids should kill themselves because she's so ugly and fat, after her kid actually did commit suicide? Why, yes, I do. And now she won't have to. She totally deserves to be able to retire, at almost 70, and maybe go on a nice vacation on top of it.

My older kids saw parts of it while we were playing cards yesterday, they showed some of it on Inside Edition. My middle daughter actually cried, and my oldest sat there with her mouth open in astonishment and then asked if those were really kids saying that stuff. Granted, they are still 8 and 9 and in elementary school, but I know that my kids wouldn't participate in that kind of brutality.
I'm sure the little bastards parents would say the same, but still.

I have seen the future and I'm fairly relieved to say, it looks nothing like me.

My kid is 9, too. I know she wouldn't do anything like it, but I kind of want to show it to her anyway...but I'm not sure if I can express why, so I'm not sure it's a valid reason.

I think it's because we want to show our kids things they will probably see, and not only identify as wrong because WE said so, but because the whole world said so too. Even on a scale as small as a school bus. They all come across it, at school, on a bus, at the roller skating rink (do kids do that anymore?), it's important to be able to identify, even if there are multiple kids chiming in and making it seem okay.

I think kids should watch it with their parents to see how hurtful it is, encourage them not to behave like that. I think it could be used as a learning tool.

Yes, that sums it up pretty well, I think. I think I'll show it to her tomorrow. I should probably watch it before then so I'll be ready.

I was basically saying the same thing as Ron but he worded it better.

Anyways, I don't see why those kids wouldnt be disciplined especially with how much exposure this has gotten. Even tho the bus lady didn't want anything to happen to those kids, there should be discipline. I was suprised to see that the kids' faces werent pixeled out yet. Watch, some parent of these asshole kids are going to sue over it all.

Also, showing it to your kids imo is a good idea. ND, I would explain it to J and see what she thinks and then maybe only let her see a few mins and that's it and then talk to her a little more about it. I think this would be an awesome time to show bullying and how it doesnt only affect children but adults as well.

I don't really think the school system/police can/should discipline them because there's really no rules about not being horrible little assholes. I'm all for their parents disciplining them- but I think communication should be emphasized over discipline. They need to know WHY what they did was wrong, not just that they did something wrong. There needs to be a back-and-forth interaction there. Some parents will do it; some won't. I bet some of those kids already feel like shit because it was just something that went too far- but they need to learn WHY it's such a big deal that things escalated to that point, and how they can possibly prevent/deter similar things from happening in the future.

And I think you have a really good point. I think I'll do just that with J tomorrow.

Really? I imagine this school system, like most, has rules against bulling. This seems to be a clear case to me.

I'm a hippie, you know I agree (lower it to 55 actually, black people don't live as long).

Just saying it's not realistic. But I dunno if this woman was working out of necessity or boredom, but I always assume the former.

At our school, they make the kids recite an anti-bullying pledge after the pledge of allegiance. Even the four-year-olds in the kindergarten program know it by heart. It's amazing to me how much of a focus it's become. I wonder if we were forced to do that stuff if my best friend would still be alive.

Maybe. Didn't happen on school grounds. Bullying happens all the time in schools with no repercussions; I can't imagine a bus would be any easier. Plus, I can see something like, "I was videotaped without consent!" I would honestly be shocked if this shit goes anywhere.

I never said it was realistic.

She was working out of necessity. She said on her FB page that she would keep working unless she came into some money. Well, bam! Good for you, Karen.

Black people should stop eating chitterlings and maybe they would live ten years longer like us white people.
