I don't get the hate. She's not asking for anything. People are just doing it for her to be, you know, nice people.![]()
What little assholes. I haven't even looked at the video yet, but honestly, what the hell happened to parents actually disciplining their kids? My five year old says Yes ma'am, No ma'am, etc.. I'll be damned if she's going to be one of these shit heads.
I can see what you're saying WTBB - I actually browsed around that site a little bit (http://www.indiegogo.com) and there are some REALLY sad stories there that should be getting equal exposure/donations. But nonetheless this poor woman went through hell that day and I hope she enjoys her MASSIVE vacation/retirement with all those donations! and I hope those little shits rot.
I agree, I don't think this woman deserves saint hood mind you, But she obviously heard some of it and was moved to tears by it, that she reacted with such grace and dignity is what I think impresses most people...personally I would have whaled on them with the bag they were making fun of. I admire her composure, dignity, and grace in the face of such ugliness. I am tickled that something so ugly inspired people to do something nice for her.
Of course I think what happened was terrible. I went back and listened to the rest of the video when at first I couldnt get past the first few minutes. The kids in that video were relentless, I absolutely agree they need a good backhand to the head and disciplined, if not expelled and dropped from the bus.
Im hoping the school takes it to the extreme in making an example of these kids because the first thing I thought of, was this is how teen thrill killers start out.
I don't think she is a saint, all Im saying is that she's not mother teresa. Im more on board with massive discipline with these kids.
Some, actually all of them, the things they were saying were unbelievable.
Did anyone say she was a saint or mother theresa? No. So I don't get why you keep on saying that. She seems like a good person that was bullied and brought to tears by little dick heads. People got wind of it, and wanted to somehow right the wrong and donated a lot of money. That is all. There will be no shrines built but I feel a lot better knowing she has a nice little cushion.
When I was a kid they'd have put you off the bus for behaving like that. Probably with a butt whipping first. I realize they wouldn't dream of doing something like that now, but the drive ought to have the responsibility to pull that bus over and have the cops haul the little delinquents to detention.
"It's the salt water that changes the Rainbow's pretty colors to gray." "And his colors never come back?" "No, once he's been to the sea he's changed forever. The Steelhead can come back home here, stay for the rest of his days, and live among the other Rainbow trout, but he'll always be different because of where he's been." Morsi, Pamela. Garters.
I don't see where anyone says she's a saint. Shes old, she's been through a lot of shit in her time I'm sure, her kid killed himself 10 years ago, and now these shit heads? Let the old bitty have a damn vacation. IF theres any cash left over she seems like the kind of person that would do something good with it.
Definitely. and she should by no means feel obligated to do anything but spoil herself and her family with every last penny of it!! How funny would it be if she posted a video of her with all that cash on the boys facebook pages saying "who's poor now BITCHES" hah. She's such a sweet lady she would never do that, but damned if I wouldn't!!
LULZ, I was referencing mother theresa as an example. I still agree that what happened was terrible and all.
It's not a moo point because I was the one who referenced her but of course it was extreme reference. Im not hating on the woman for pete's sake. You put your pitchfork away lady!
Your point is more moo than my point being moo.

I just think that in our sue happy society people expect to be compensated for things that they shouldn't be compensated for. It's nice that people are doing something for the old bird, but I just hate the "she deserves it" mentality.
And legal action?! Seriously...these responses are, well, interesting....to say the least.
But she's not suing! She didn't expect to be compensated!
I think most people deserve to not have to work at a shit job that pays $15k a year. Does it mean it's going to happen? No. But it's not fair that just because it can't happen for everyone, it shouldn't happen for one person.
Agreed, but just because they don't doesn't make her deserve it any less.
Did I mention she deserves it, Ron?![]()
It's not that she deserves money because she was harassed by a bunch of jerk kids, but she's not undeserving of it.
If people want to do something nice for her, so what?
This story could have had a much worse ending, you know. We could have read about her having a heart attack and dying after this event. Glad that wasn't the case. At any rate, someone thought enough of this woman to start a fund for her and others contributed. Kudos to every one of the people who gave money to her. She didn't do anything necessarily to "deserve" it, but no one should be subject to that kind of cruelty. I'm glad someone posted the names of those kids and their addresses. Not because I think they deserve death threats, but because that way, we ALL know who the parents are. And ultimately we know it's the parents who are to blame. Don't make excuses for your child's bad behavior. Put an end to it, THAT'S YOUR GODDAMN JOB.
I hope this lady retires and is able to do all the things she wants to do, and all thanks to the kindness of strangers. Stories like this remind me that this world isn't quite as fucked up as it seems, and that there is still good in it.
Don't like what I have to say? I respect that. Now go fuck yourself.
Internet Gives Harassed Bus Monitor a $325,000 Vacation [UPDATED]
Karen Klein, the bus monitor who was verbally abused in Greece, N.Y. by the group of 12- to 15-year-olds she was supervising, is about to go on one heck of a great vacation.
An Indiegogo fundraiser in her name has pulled in more than $325,000 to send her on her way. (The amount continues to rise; we?ll update the numbers as it does.)
The fundraiser was started by Reddit user Max Sidorov of Toronto, Canada. When Sidorov heard about Klein?s salary ? $15,506, according to a district website ? he decided she did not make enough money to have to put up with that type of harassment.
The original fundraising goal was $5,000 ? which was beaten in under five hours.
?I thought we would raise a few thousand, max.? Sidorov told Mashable. ?But this? this could hit double her yearly wage.?
It did.
?As soon as I heard of Karen Huff Klein ? I had to create a fundraiser here for this nice lady,? Sidorov writes in his profile. ?Let?s give Karen a vacation of a lifetime, let?s show her the power of the internets and how kind and generous people can be.?
The reasoning behind the fundraiser was personal, in way. ?I?ve had experience with bullying from school.? Sidorov told Mashable. ?I know how bad it can feel.?
In a recent announcement posted to the Indiegogo page, Sidorov wrote: ?Just spoke with Amanda, Karen?s daughter, and the vacation plans are being contemplated! I will have word very soon! Just so everyone knows, everything above and beyond the cost of the vacation will go directly to her!?
Due to the PayPal account linked to a business name of Sidorov?s, Marion Adiante, there has been debate over the legitimacy of the fundraiser. For now, Sidorov has removed PayPal as a payment option.
?People are still accusing me of taking the money to run with,? Sidorov told Mashable. ?So until I get Karen?s PayPal, its just Indiegogo?s payment system for now.?
There are, however, still people with questions. ?Again, I dont want a dime of Karen?s money.? Sidorov told the Indiegogo page. ?Everything is going to her. I?m already out in the open. Pretty much the whole world knows who I am by now.?
On June 21, Indiegogo released a statement. ?Everyone at Indiegogo was so proud this morning to see Karen Klein on television talking so bravely about her experience,? they wrote. ?We hope that this Indiegogo campaign contributes positively to the important national discussion about bullying.?
Should more workplace harassment be documented this way? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
Geez, relax man! I'm not implying that legal action is the way to go in these situations, I'm saying I WISH there was some way to give consequences that would actually help better these kids as opposed to simply taking them off the bus or out of school, which won't teach them a damn thing. You're right, it is the parents job, so the world should just be ok with them being assholes because their parents suck? There is a huge difference between being an asshole and harassing the shit out of someone! I can be quite a bitch when provoked or being protective of someone, but never once have I done this to someone...
Yea, I was doing a lot worse shit than this when I was 14, and legal action was definitely necessary. If my mom found out I was bullying it would have been an improvement.
And my mom is a very decent person, so it's not always the parent's fault. She was on single mom duty, and some kids need a good crack in the pants. Sadly, the legal system did it for her when she failed to do so.
But I'm saying, taunting doesn't need to involve police action.
