I know I wouold have an extreme reaction to seeing my child harmed. I would either freeze completely ( please I hope not) or absolutely hulk the fuck out. Possibly both.

Is exactly what I would do. I'm a short woman and normally very passive, but I can get mean when I need to and I have before. I have a four year old daughter and I'd hate to see the person's face who did this to my daughter, after my foot introduced itself 50+ times. I honestly can not think of any other situation than walking up on someone in the act of violating my child, that could make me more violent. It speaks volumes that this father was so concerned with the well-being of the molester after he finished with him. I would not have given him that much thought.

I'm glad this son of a bitch is dead and that this father was able to protect his defenseless daughter under Texas State law.

and yeah...there's no way that this dude suddenly decided, at age 47, that he wanted to diddle kids. :/ the world is better off without him. i don't blame the father at all, but it was evident that he never meant for the attacker to die.

They investigated and determined what he did not was not, by definition, murder.

And god, that poor man did not intend to kill him. Any sane, compassionate person would be devastated to take another person's life. No matter the circumstances.
yeah, i'm not laughing about it, but i'm not exactly super sad about it if you know what i mean. i feel bad for the father of the little girl. he protected his kid, but the outcome wasn't what he was aiming for. i think he acted admirably after the fact. i know there are people who would be proudly standing over the corpse, posing like they just shot 30 point buck.

I'm just saying there should always be an investigation, is all. I don't blame him, and I'm not crying about this asshole being dead.

I totally agree with that too. If I were in the father's position, it might help me to move past the incident if I knew that everything was looked into and I was cleared, instead of it just being whitewashed.

As an aside, Shiner makes some really good beer. It's on my list to visit Shiner Texas and take the tour. One of my favorite go to beers on draft at most bars around here.

    The standard

My new favorite by them. A really mellow and smooth lightly hopped IPA.

This story has been all over the news here. I was following it with half an eyeball when I was on the treadmill yesterday.

You say it sets a bad precedence, but the precedence is already set. In Texas, we put people to death (not that I agree). The state gets away with taking someone's life without any consequences on a regular basis.

    Sad but true.

I am not sure what I would do if someone was hurting a loved one. Before I joined the Army, I would have tried to ensure my loved one's safety without inflicting damage on the assailant. A shove-him-off-and-run type scenario. Now that I'm actually trained to do damage, I am not sure I would be able to stop beating the man with my fists, though I'm admittedly not as strong as a the father of this scenario inevitably was.
