Joe Fisher (75) was found fatally beaten in apartment with a lipstick note scrawled across his chest

Neighbors checking on a 75-year-old man found him dead Wednesday with an eerie message written across his chest in red lipstick , law enforcement sources said.

When Joe Fisher hadn’t been seen for days, neighbors went into his apartment and found him lying on the kitchen floor with “Who’s b---- now” scribbled on his chest around 11:20 a.m., the sources and witnesses said.

Fisher, who lived in the Concourse building on Walton Ave. for more than 30 years and worked as a handyman and painter, suffered head and body trauma, police and neighbors said.

The man previously survived three heart attacks, neighbors said. “You know, he was able to survive those, but all of a sudden this happens,” one said. “It’s really a shame.”

“He was a nice man, you know, didn’t hurt anybody,” said one 46-year-old neighbor who declined to be named. “Whoever did it must have been evil.”

The elderly man had a son and daughter, according to neighbors, but they didn’t visit often.

A man who identified himself as Fisher’s son was seen leaving the building in tears but wouldn’t speak to reporters.

Who does this to an elderly person? Can't wait to hear what kind of asshat is responsible for this one.

but the message is kind of crazy. maybe he got into an argument with someone and called them a bitch, and they killed him for revenge? or revenge on a relative? thats why the message was left?

Sounds like the ole "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" tale. Even if he's 75 he could still piss an old bitch off. Fo Sho.

"Bitch" being the operative word. And even if he did, unless he was some racist, Nazi asshole it's no reason to kill him for calling someone a name. Sticks and stones and all that. I highly doubt an elderly man would use a term like that unless it was "in context", or "appropriate". If you act like a bitch, expect to be called on it. I called one of my neighbors a bitch because she had the nerve to fly down the alley way too fast, right next to where my kids were playing, then she had the nerve to come back and try to yell at my 16 year old because he called her on her "lack of judgement" while driving. She damn near got her ass beat. Luckily her husband came down and was far more sensible about things.
Point is, being a bitch just to be one isn't a right. Sorry, ladies. It's also just not fucking cool. If you want to be a bitch, make damn sure you're doing it to someone who deserves it. Don't be a bitch to coworkers just because you're angry at your boyfriend. I know that most people don't but like my neighbor there are some that do, just don't be surprised when you get called on it.

My first thought was maybe he diddled someone when they were younger and they came back for revenge. It's terrible that my first thought went there, but I don't think it is an unreasonable thought.

That would be horrible. I hope that's not the case.

Shit, in cases like this, part of me hopes the victim did something horrible to deserve this. With this weird lipstick thing, maybe that's the case.

Search Is On For Killer Who Wrote Obscene Message On Victim

MORRISANIA, BRONX (PIX11)— Police have a mystery on their hands as they search for whoever beat an elderly man to death and left an obscene message scrawled in lipstick.

Joe Fisher, 75, was last seen alive last Monday. It was the same day that Herminia Acevedo was in her living room directly below Fisher's apartment at 1268 Walker Avenue. She only speaks Spanish, but the sound she made in describing what she heard that day above her head needs no translation. "Boom!" she said, after stomping her feet to show what she also heard before the onomatopoeia.

In retrospect, she told PIX11 News, it appeared that there may have been a struggle and a fall. None of Fisher's neighbors seemed to know it at the time, but after nobody saw seventy-five year-old Joe Fisher for a few days, they went in to his apartment on Wednesday, and in the kitchen right above Ms. Acevedo's kitchen, they made a gruesome discovery.

"It's kind of eerie to know that somebody wrote on his chest," Steven Wright, a father who drops off his daughter at daycare in the building every day, told PIX11 News, referring to the primary reason that detectives have a murder mystery on their hands in this case.

Not only did somebody beat Fisher in the head and neck so severely that he sustained a skull fracture before dying, according to the medical examiner, whoever is behind the murder wrote the words, "Who's the b_____ now?" on Fisher's chest in lipstick.

"Whoever did this was sick," Carmen Velez said. She grew up in the building, and her mother still lives there after more than 30 years. Velez was among many residents who told PIX11 News that Fisher was well-known and well-liked. "He'd never hurt anyone," she said, adding that she couldn't imagine anybody wanting to hurt the man who'd lived in the building for three decades.

Fisher's son, who did not give his first name, visited his father's building Wednesday night. He told PIX11 News that his dad had a roommate, but investigators have not given any indication that whoever that is is a suspect.

Everybody from Fisher's building who spoke with PIX11 News said that Fisher was rarely seen in the company of women, or anyone likely to ever use a lipstick. They said that he was a painter or handyman in the neighborhood, and worked most of the time, sometimes six days a week, despite having suffered three heart attacks in recent years.

The building has a network of at least eight cameras in its lobby and in its outer courtyard and front steps, which see whoever is entering and leaving the building, which should provide clues for NYPD investigators, some of whom are based out of the 44th precinct, which is literally around the corner -- exactly 118 steps away -- from Fisher's building.

In the end, though, good old-fashioned gumshoe work may solve the crime. On Fisher's door, which has been sealed by investigators, are traces of chalk dust, where technicians had brushed extensively for the fingerprints of whoever is behind this mysterious death.

I dunno. The article said something about him not having many women visitors. Unless you are speaking of a male prostitute. The article said that everyone loved him, blah, blah, blah, but I can't help but feel that he diddled someone. It makes me think it even more with the residents saying he didn't have many female visitors. I hope I'm wrong and I already feel terrible, for judging this dude, if it isn't true. I guess we see it all too often and my mind went in that direction first.

So this is kind of nitpicky, but did it say "Who's the bitch now?" or "Who's bitch now?"

"Who's bitch now" kinda sounds like something from a non-native English speaker.

Then again, I live in Oklahoma. Even the native English speakers can't do too much better.

Yeah, to me that message implies he 'made someone else a bitch' if you get my drift. So it'll either be some total wacko who lost it because they felt he was a dick or something, or it'll be someone who he wronged and demeaned in the past.

I think whoever did it just had bad grammar, either it was woman who took great offense at being called a bitch or it was man trying to make it look like a woman did it. Probably the latter.
